Sharing Quilt Projects #14

November has been beautiful here in Iowa, it is hard to believe I was outside today without a jacket! It is now time for Sharing Quilt Projects #14.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was bidding on an old vintage truck that I wanted to put in my yard so I could use it as a prop for my quilts. Well, the bid went up to $1,300, way too much for a yard ornament. Would you like to see what it looked like?

Just imagine it with the hood on and the sides cut down to the sides of the original. Right now we have too much going on with the move so it is probably a good thing I didn’t win the bid. Maybe next summer we will find one!

Vintage Truck Applique

Well, since I didn’t get the truck I decided it would be fun to create a quilt project using a vintage truck! I’m working on a vintage truck applique table runner that I’ll be sharing in my next post. I am doing a fast and easy way of appliqueing and I can’t wait to show it to you!

Jeanette made this precious Midnight Glow quilt. She made it as a donation to the Project Linus group she belongs to. Some lucky child will love it!

Ohio Star Table Runner

Mary Sue used my Fiery Orange Ohio Star table runner tutorial to make not only a table runner but also placemats! What a great idea!

Modern 9 Patch

Joan had fun making the Modern 9 Patch table topper and instead of appliquing the maple leaves, she embroidered them!

Autumn Table Runner

Martha also made the Autumn table runner but in blues. This would go perfectly in our new kitchen as it has dark blue counters. I heard that blue is coming back in style! This would also be perfect for the 4th of July!

Coral Jewel table runner

Susana shared her embroidered Coral Jewel table runner that she will use at Christmas time.

Christmas Tree table runner

Sandy is working on my Christmas Tree table runner tutorial. She said she is a novice sewer and has really enjoyed how easy it was to follow my tutorial. Comments like that always make my day!

QAYG Placemats

Linda is making beautiful placemats for her son using the QAYG placemats tutorial. Her son laid out the fabric design and she is making 6 of them. His plates are oversized so she is making the placemats 14½ x 1.8. Love the quilting!

River Scraps

Here is another beautiful quilt made by Susana! She used my River Scraps pattern, what a great job! She said she has become a master at “unpicking” and it may not be perfect but it is done! That is always my motto too!

Pumpkin Block Runner

Jan used my Pumpkin Block table runner tutorial to make this beautiful table runner. Look how she added a border of pumpkins that must be a fancy stitch on her sewing machine.

Sharing Pets

Mr. Mickey

Mr. Mickey and I have been taking walks at least twice a day. They are short walks but boy does he enjoy them. I have also started taking him for a short drive in the car which ends at a park. I am hoping to get him over his anxiety of being in a car. Here he is on my Flying Nines baby quilt.

Gilbert

Too many wonderful things to comment on everything!!!!!! Tried to give this a bunch of hearts! All the added embroidery on the quilting too. And these pups are too darn adorable.

  3. LOL, my husband, who restores vintage cars and trucks, could not believe someone would buy an old truck as a prop. It was simply beyond his realm of thinking. I had a good laugh at him.

Connie, Mr Mickey looks very happy siting in that beautiful Quilt.
If you didn’t get the old truck, I believe is for a reason, and soon a much nicer one will come along, when you are ready. One thing at a time.
Can’t wait to see the truck applique quilt, i’m sure it’s going to be spectacular.

  5. Great idea recycling an old truck. There is a garden center near my home that has an old truck that they decorate seasonally. This fall they had pumpkins and other fall flowers in the engine area and also in the truck bed. It looked rustic but beautiful at the same time!

  6. I’m looking forward to seeing your truck. It looks like it will be a fun project. It’s always fun to see the great quilting projects and pets of your followers. Good luck with your move. I hope the weather is decent for it.
