Layer Cake Latte
This beautiful quilt is the lap quilt size at 60.5″ x 60.5″. Fat Quarter Shop is giving the free pattern which includes 3 other sizes. You’ll find the link at the end of my post.
Woodland & Wildflowers Layer Cake
I really liked the Woodland & Wildflowers by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics with all of the beautiful florals. I also used Bella Cottons Solid Off White Muslin for the background.
Trimming the HSTs
There are a lot of half square triangles in this quilt. I used my 3½-inch square Omnigrip ruler and my Olfa Quick-Change Rotary cutter. I also used my 17″ Martelli circular cutting mat. I don’t use this very often but it is handy as it rotates.
Coffee For Quilting
I usually have a cup of coffee nearby when I am quilting, in fact for Christmas I received a Keurig K-Slim Single K-Cup Pod Coffee Maker that is in my quilt studio.
Piecing the Layer Cake Latte Blocks
It helps to have a design wall to layout the pieces for the quilt blocks so you have everything going the right way. Yep, I had to take a couple apart as they were going the wrong way.
Finished Layer Cake Latte Blocks
The lap quilt is made with just nine quilt blocks which measure 18½-inches x 18½-inches unfinished.
Layer Cake Latte Finished
I quilted the Layer Cake Latte quilt on my Noltings Long Arm but forgot to take a photo. I did a simple meandering all over the quilt.
The quilt looks beautiful hung over the railing going to the basement.

What a beautiful, easy quilt pattern. It’s a great way to use a layer cake or some scraps. I have printed the pattern, but it will have to wait until after the holidays. Thanks.
Absolutely gorgeous! Connie
Thank you! I have a layer cake and look forward to this perfect pattern!
This is gorgeous. I’ve downloaded the pattern, and it’s on my “to do” list for daughter’s 20th wedding anniversary as it’s perfect for the colour scheme in their bedroom!
Connie, this is a beautiful quilt! I’m inspired. I have a layer cake that I bought some time ago because I thought it was beautiful. This inspires me to use it. Thanks for the pattern and the inspiration. Jeanne
I am living the Cake Latte quilt. I would love to have the pattern
Love the layer Cake Latte quilt Connie. The colors are beautiful. Thank you for the pattern link.
Moc se mi líbí Vaše práce. Obdivuju.
How warm and inviting! love the redish shade in there. And when you break it apart it really looks like a quick quilt for those “Oops the shower is WHEN?” Thanks! (The only thing we didn’t have today was SNOW – hot, then cool, then rain,… I have grass seed to put out and other garden chores that are just not getting done – it’s okay – I’ll quilt!) Thanks
I love your version!
Beautiful guilt and I love the colors!
Love the colors in this quilt and I agree it does look nice draped over the railing.
Love the quilt! Love your patterns. They’re the best!
Nice quilt, Connie! I do like Fancy That fabric lines!
What a beautiful quilt! I love the fabric you selected. It just makes those blocks pop. The quilt looks so nice hanging over your railing. Hope you had a great birthday. Give Rusty a hug for me!
What a beautiful quilt, Connie!! I will go get the pattern. It does look beautiful over the railing over the staircase!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Another beautiful “Connie” quilt. I love your color choices. I also have the Martelli rotating mat and it is the best one I’ve found. I encourage others to purchase this as it’s a huge help for cutting out smaller quilt pieces and for squaring blocks.
Happy Birthday, again. Thank you for sharing this quilt.
Hi Connie,
Your quilt is beautiful! I just love the colors and the pattern. Rusty must have been napping during the photo shoot! Looks like spring is coming your way; here in Atlanta we are pretty much green and well into pollen season. Then comes the heat and the A/C goes on!
Gorgeous! Hope your birthday was great! God Bless you!
