Covered Patio Outside My Quilt Studio

Birthday Gift
Today is my birthday and my gift from Builder Bob was a ceiling over our patio. Rusty and I will really enjoy this! That strange box on the ceiling is to our fireplace in the living room.
When It Rained
When it rained Rusty and I couldn’t sit out on the patio outside my quilt studio. I also have a rug that would always get soaked and it isn’t any fun to walk on it in your stocking feet! When we lived on the river we covered our deck and sitting out there in the rain was so neat.
My whining finally paid off and I no longer have to look at the bottom of our deck.
Support Braces For The Deck
Our deck is composite and the boards actually shrunk at some point and were barely sitting on the beams so Bob added braces to each one before framing for the ceiling. There is a 2 inch drop and a gutter on the end.

Furniture In The Yard
The guys were able to set everything up in the backyard and while they were working on the ceiling, I made three trips to get compost for our raised beds. Once I had that all in, our friend carried all of the bags of soil over to the beds so I could fill them. Hopefully after next week I’ll be able to plan in them.
Bob Supervising
It was really nice having someone young to help with the projects. Bob and I sure get tired fast anymore.
Connie’s Greenhouse
I might as well show you my little greenhouse. I started out with some grow lights that didn’t seem to give off enough light so I switched to some LED shop lights that seem to be helping. I have a feeling I’ll be buying plants as soon as we know we can plant as many of these look stunted. Hopefully I’ll do better with outside plants.

Before I moved where I am now, I used to take my small sewing machine out on my deck to sew on pretty days. I loved being able to do that.
