Layer Cake Pop! Free Quilt Pattern
Today I am taking part in the Layer Cake Pop! Free Quilt Pattern Quilt Along from Fat Quarter Shop.
All you need is one layer cake and your background fabric to make this beautiful quilt.
I happened to have a layer cake from Sandy Gervais that worked perfectly. The pattern cover shows the Spectrum collection by V & Co. which is really neat and now in stock.
I got a late start on this QAL and thought I would only be able to make a few blocks but the pattern is so easy that I just kept going and pretty soon I had enough blocks made for a baby quilt. My quilt is 36″ x 48″.
I used a 80/20 batting and Aurifil thread for my free motion quilting. This may sound funny but I have a hard time doing a large quilting pattern, most of my free motion quilting is very small, tight quilting.
This will make a beautiful baby quilt and I wanted it to be a little fluffy.
All of my piecing and quilting was done on my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine. I just happened to have the perfect fabric in my stash for the backing and binding.
The Layer Cake Pop! quilt was the perfect backdrop for little Sadie. She doesn’t know it yet but she is going to the groomer on Friday to get her hair and nails done. This is the photo that I used for one of my free February printable calendars.
Get your free Layer Cake Pop! quilt pattern, and read some more about it at the Jolly Jabber. There will also be links so you can visit the other bloggers who are participating in the Quilt Along.
Fat Quarter Shop also has a Layer Cake Pop Quilt Kit that includes the beautiful Spectrum collection by V and Co.
Thanks so much for stopping by and a big thank you to Fat Quarter Shop for the Layer Cake Pop! free pattern and QAL.

Beautiful!!…. Love it!
Going to do this *now*!
Sadie has given this fun quilt the seal of approval. Hard to believe it was a quick and easy quilt to make. Layer Cake Bliss…
Pretty! And Sadie is adorable!
I have several layer cakes that need to be made into quilts and given away… This looks like a good pattern for exactly that! Thank you.
Your version of this pattern is beautiful, Connie, and Sadie is the perfect model for it. Looking forward to seeing a picture post groomer!
Your pooch is adorable on you lovely quilt❤❤❤
how fun to see different versions of this as I just saw a muted batik version on Melissa’s blog in my feed
Sadie just gets cuter by the day! That is what love does for a little girl. love the quilt too!
Love your colors! So happy!
Marvelous quilt using layer cake!
I’ve seen so many of these today all over social media. Yours is by far the prettiest I’ve seen. I had no intentions of making one until I saw yours. Now if I could just find me one of those cute pups to go with it!
The pattern really does come together a lot faster than I had thought it might, too! I like your bright colors and understand how hard it can be to show restraint on the quilting.
Nice job, perfect layer cake for this pattern. Sadie is getting a makeover-lucky her!! I have that backing fabric also, hehe.
Great job! Love the binding on that quilt. 🙂
Those colors really do “Pop”!
Your quilt turned out so beautiful!!!
Sadie looks very cute on that quilt! 🙂
