The free Dovetail quilt pattern calls for (3) Jolly Bars but you could also use (2) Layer Cakes and just cut them in half. I used the Chestnut Street collection by Fig Tree & Co for Moda.

Chestnut Street Fabric

I used some of the same Chestnut Street fabrics for my Dutch Tulips quilt.

There is just one simple quilt block in the Dovetail free quilt pattern and it is super easy to make. The block is big and it would be very easy to make a king-size quilt quickly with it.

I am always amazed at what a difference quilting makes to a quilt. When I had the blocks up on my design wall I wasn’t sure I would end up liking the fabrics I had chosen.

The free Dovetail quilt pattern leaves you with lots of leftovers for another quilt project. I’m not sure what I’ll make yet.
