The Fat Quarter Shop has done it again, Dovetail is a fast and easy free quilt pattern that you can download. Did I mention that it is FREE.
Little Sadie even did a little posing for me. What a cutie!
The free Dovetail quilt pattern calls for 3 Jolly Bars but you could also use 2 Layer Cakes and just cut them in half. I used the Chestnut Street collection by Fig Tree & Co for Moda.
I used some of the same Chestnut Street fabrics for my Dutch Tulips quilt.
There is just one simple quilt block in the Dovetail free quilt pattern and it is super easy to make. The block is big and it would be very easy to make a king size quilt quickly with it.
I am always amazed at what a difference quilting makes to a quilt. When I had the blocks up on my design wall I wasn’t sure I would end up liking the fabrics I had chosen.
Once it was quilted, I loved it!
You’ll want to visit the Jolly Jabber so you can download the Dovetail free quilt pattern and visit the links to other quilters who are taking part in the Quilt Along.
The Dovetail quilt was made with the Berry Merry collection by BasicGrey and Fat Quarter Shop also has a quilt kit you can buy featuring this collection.
If you enjoy watching videos, you’ll want to take a look at all of the videos that Kimberly from Fat Quarter shop shares.
The Mississippi river here in Iowa is finally going down, the flooding has been mild but has really slowed down the amount of boaters enjoying the river.
The free Dovetail quilt pattern leaves you with lots of leftovers for another quilt project. I’m not sure what I’ll make yet.
You can find the Dovetail quilt pattern and many other free patterns at Fat Quarter Shop.

I always enjoy seeing your beautiful quilts along the river’s banks. Sadie makes the perfect quilt pooch too. Hope your dad is continuing to improve.
