Circular Illusion Wall Hangings
Circular Illusion is a 9 page PDF with full-color images to walk you through each pattern. You can find it in my shop and also on Etsy.
I used the Monarch batik collection from Island Batik again. This is the same collection that I used to make my Mirage quilt and also Rusty’s sofa quilt.

Circular Illusion
31 x 32
Recently I had someone ask about a pattern for the wall hanging I had on the wall in my quilt studio. This was one of those “coming soon” quilt patterns that never got written. I decided it was time to get it written which meant I had to make both wall-hangings again. That is the best way for me to write a pattern.
Circular Illusion 2
24 x 25
I used the leftover strips from the Circular Illusion quilt to make a second quilt.
Circular Illusion in different fabrics
Circular Illusion is a bargello style wall hanging but I don’t sew it into a circle. I think you will enjoy making it the way that I do.
Circular Illusion 2 in different fabrics
The first time I made both wall-hangings, I used a batik collection from Island Batik called Lavish. I am finally going to update my Lavish blog post with a link to the pattern. Would you believe I made the wall hangings for a Island Batik blog hop in 2016! Where does the time go!
Bedroom Decorating
I hung both of the wall hangings up and put the Mirage log cabin quilt on the bed. I think it looks pretty good!
Adding Applique
I used a yellow Aurifil thread for the quilting and a coral Aurifil thread for the applique around the circles.
Eversewn
I don’t use my EverSewn 25 sewing machine as much as I should. It does a beautiful job on applique.

I love the Circular Illusion – both versions. The bargello one has a southwest feel to it while the other has a more oriental feel. Love them both and really fun that you could use scraps from the first and it all goes so well with that photo!
Those are beautiful, Connie! Of course, having those lovely Island Batik fabrics to work with–how can you go wrong? 🙂 I love the bedroom with the wall hangings and the quilt! They go so well with the poppy print above the bed too! Lovely!
Quite dramatic – and the colors are so warm and sunshiny – but love the blues/red as well. Now I’m getting ideas on how it would look repeated for a sofa sized quilt! Yum! Thanks for the peek at summer!
I just love the Circular Illusion pattern, your quilts and extraordinary with the Lavish Island Batik fabric. Thank you for all you do, Connie!
Those are both beautiful, Connie. I love the look of them on the wall with the quilt. Great use of the extra fabric strips!
Beautiful Connie!! I’m so happy that I could play a little part in encouraging you to write the pattern!! My duplication of your quilt was well received at our guild meeting last night. Thank you again for allowing me to copy your creation!
I loved your quilt Diane and yes, you gave me that little push I needed to get to work on the pattern. I love the larger size you made yours!
Absolutely wonderful wall hangings using beautiful colours. I love the display in the bedroom – so unique and bright.
Rusty must have been outside having fun when you photographed your sewing area and the wall hangings.
Beautiful Connie- It’s really Amazing pattern. I always wanted to do Old Man on the Mountain but this is like a stunning ray of sunshine. Hope you are all thawing out up there.
