Purple String Blocks and other quilt blocks

I didn’t get anything new worked on this week for the purple scraps but……I did find my blocks from last year. As I looked at this photo I got a new idea for using the Crossroads block tutorial on the diagonal….in color rows.

I love the little strings on the spool blocks and have a whole quilt designed……in my head. I really, really need to get it down on paper or in Electric Quilt. The little strings are from 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch and a fun way to use up scraps.
Recently there was a EQ Photo Fun Blog Hop and I ended up being the lucky winner! I received the book Digital Essentails and a package of EQ printable fabric sheets. I just picked up some more color ink for my printer and can’t wait to use my winnings!
I have used printable fabric sheets before for my quilt labels and really like them. Using coordinating fabrics makes it easy to design blocks and a quilt. You can find some great deals on fabric here also.
Save this for later!

I just snapped this so you could see that we finally have green!! In fact it is time to mow. The river is still up, in fact it is right to the top of our wall but it is supposed to be going down. There is talk of rain for the next 3 days so we’ll see what happens. The tree is turning green too!
I just took this picture to show you what I’m going to work on today. Right now it is still a little too chilly for me but in a little while I will be out cleaning the leaves out of the rocks and getting ready for mulch. The hostas are coming up finally!

Want to thank you for such a fun string block. We did these at a quilt retreat recently and had so much fun. I wrote a post about it, if you would like to check it out…

🙂
I love purple and have been working a lot with it lately.
Isn't it funny how we design so many quilts in our head while working on other projects?!? Beautiful spring weather! Can't wait to see green again!
How fun to "find" your blocks and revisit them. Congratulations on your win. Your scenery is beautiful. I hope your water does not go over the wall. We had rain and could still use lots more. Serene Sunday…
Great blocks, Connie. Congratulations on a nice win!
Beautiful blocks Connie. Look at all the green in your yard. Love the view. The Digital Essentials looks just perfect for you. I'm sure you'll have fun with that.
Nice work this month. Congratulations on the win.
Hope those water levels come down soon. Spring is such a beautiful time of year but so stressful if you live close to water and watch those levels rise.
Such pretty eye candy! I love your spool block – a whole quilt of them would be wonderful. Hope you get time to work on it soon.
It is green there!! You are so lucky. Up here the ice and snow are finally going away. One nice thing tho……all the waterfowl and shore birds are back!! Yippee!! 🙂
How cool that you won! I never found out who won, so now I know 🙂 nice blocks too .
