Are you taking part in the QAL with Fat Quarter Shop? I just finished my Vintage Christmas Quilt May Blocks.

Vintage Christmas Quilt May Blocks

Each month since January I have been making four 6-inch blocks for Lori Holt’s Vintage Christmas quilt that I am doing with Fat Quarter Shop. These are small blocks with lots of pieces and only making 4 a month is simple.

At the end of the year I’ll have enough blocks for a beautiful quilt. The quilt is in the Vintage Christmas book by Lori Holt.

Here is the church quilt block. To make it easy to pick the fabrics for this quilt, Fat Quarter Shop has the Vintage Christmas fabric kit you can buy that uses Lori Holt’s fabrics. I am using Lori Holt’s Hometown Holiday collection.

Mitten

The mitten block has a cute heart in the center of it.

Each block has lots of pieces so the Alphabitties are really handy to use. It was handy to have a small cutting mat, a small wool mat and a seam roller right next to my sewing machine.

Coffee Cup

This cute coffee cup or tea cup is cute with a quilt design on the front of it. Can you see all of the pieces that go into each block?

Fourth Quilt Block

I thought I took a picture of the pieces for the 4th block but I couldn’t find it. This is a beautiful little block.

  1. I love your small quilt blocks, although I have never made any. I’m glad you chased that hawk away and hopefully they don’t come back. It’s too early for our garden yet, but I’m looking forward to fresh vegetables. We are getting rain this weekend and our flowering trees look beautiful. Have a great week.

  2. Your little blocks are so cute! I have always liked the small block quilts but haven’t done one yet.

We feed the birds all of the time and I have found evidence of hawks hunting the birds, which makes me sad. I don’t care if the hawks get all of the mice they can find. ha! I’m glad you were able to scare off the hawk so the Mallard didn’t get hurt.

  3. Making these type quilts takes a lot of time, cutting and sewing. I’ve started a few, but none are finished. So may at some point make wall hangings or a quilt with orphan blocks.
You are doing a great job especially with small pieces and 6 inch blocks.
Our weather is a little warmer and we have already planted peppers, summer and zucchini squash and tomatoes. We have some small tomatoes and have seen 2 peppers starting. We also planted several butterfly bushes to attract bees. We had several hives but lost them all over the winter, but a swarm has moved into one of the hives and seems to be thriving. Hope all will remember to not use Round-Up and other products harmful to bees. Without bees we will have no food.
