Monday Happenings 3 In My Studio

I’m not sure if I’ll do this every Monday but today I want to share Monday Happenings 3 In My Studio to update you on what has been going on.

Many have emailed me asking if we are safe from the flooding. We are in the middle of Iowa and fortunately have not been affected by all of it.

Did you miss my Monday Happenings last week?

Monday Happenings 3

Here is what is on my longarm today! I put the binding on a quilt that I’ll be sharing soon, pieced another from the leftover pieces and still haven’t quilted the baby quilt. I show the black quilt below and that photo was yesterday before I finished quilting it.

Fall Gatherings Table Runner

I have finished my table runner using the Fall Gatherings collection from Island Batik that I used to make my Harvest Hues quilt.

The Fall Gatherings collection is available at Missouri Star Quilt Co. Just search for Island Batik or Fat Quarter Bundle to find it. Use the link below.

Vibrant Joy in Black

Vibrant Joy is on the longarm and I’ll have it finished this week. The Vibrant Joy quilt pattern is available in my shop or Etsy.

See the zigzag backing? That is a flannel that has been in my stash for at least 6 years. It makes a perfect back for this quilt.

I am using Hobbs 80/20 Black Heirloom batting.

My YouTube Video

I’m trying to become more comfortable doing videos so I did a unboxing video of what I received from Missouri Star Quilt Company as their partner in July. It isn’t the best and I think you have to turn your volume up if you would like to watch it.

Videos are stressful!

I have my second Island Batik Ambassador box of Island Batik fabrics coming this month and I’ll have another unboxing video for that.

Taking My Grandson

Today my grandson is having his gallbladder removed and I am taking his driver. He has Celiac disease and we are hoping this will help him some.

Green Beans From Our Garden

We had our first meal of green beans from our garden yesterday! They were so good and more are coming on. My peas are about done and I think I’m going to pull them out and plant more beans as I just read that they are a good crop to still be able to plant in July in our area.

Speaking of gardens – it has been dry and I’ve been watering everything every day. Our water bill went from $68 to $163! Wow! We had a separate meter put in at our last house for watering outside so we didn’t pay sewer on it. I have a feeling we are going to be checking to see if we can get that done here. It costs about $300 but it should save us money.

    Hi Connie,
Do you have a pattern for the quilt that is second from the right on your picture ‘what’s on my longarm?’
I love all the quilts shown, but I am moving into a brand new house and this design would look fabulous in the spare bedroom.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

Love your black quilt and the flannel backing. I do hope your grandson is feeling better and will continue to feel better. It is 104F at 2:30 in the afternoon. Stay cool and hydrate. Happy and Safe Fourth of July Dear.

    Hi Connie
Oh how I love your fall table runner!
I can’t figure out how to get the 20% discount at Missouri Star…will you direct me, please.

    Thanks, Jeanne

Love your quilts — prayers for your grandson — my granddaughter has Ceiliacs as well and juvenille diabetes —

    Keep us updated!

You got some great goodies from MSQC!! I need to choose my second set of products. One day I’d love to visit there! Praying that your grandson’s surgery goes well and that removing his gallbladder helps improve the celiac disease. Have a great week, Connie!

    1. Thanks Brenda, his surgery went well, he was in a lot of pain but by now is feeling much better. It is so neat the MSQC is letting us get all those goodies! The discount even works for us and I bought that bundle of Quilt Town. Would you believe we visited Missouri Star Quilt Company their first year when there was only one shop! It was so neat even then. I would love to go back now.

  7. Prayers for your grandson that his surgery goes well and that this will help him have a better life.
Great job on your video. I love Island Batiks and MSQC also. Can’t wait to see what you make with all the “goodies”. Who has time for travel when there are so many projects to make and finish!!
I love the applique flower. Applique is one of my favorites things to do.
Have a safe and blessed 4th of July celebrating our Founding Fathers, the US Constitution and the best country ever! May God always Bless America!

    1. Thanks Beverly, he is doing well and hopefully this will help improve his health. I can’t wait to play/work with all these beautiful fabrics.

  8. Loved your video!! I think you did a great job. I can’t wait to see all of the quilts you make with that beautiful fabric. Also, prayers for your grandson. I hope the surgery goes well and that it does help him.
