Living Coral Pantone Color of the Year 2019
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Have you heard that the Pantone color for 2019 is Living Coral. This is one of my all time favorite colors and it will be fun to use it this year in different quilt projects.
Pantone also has put together five different harmony groups to go with the Living Coral. You can find all of them on their How to Use Pantone Color of the year 2019 page.
I pulled the Trippy Harmony palette into Photoshop and used the colors in a mockup of my Confetti quilt pattern. Pantone describes these colors as “A palette of hallucinogenic shades with dizzying effects.”
I have a feeling I’m going to add a few more colors or keep looking for the perfect color palette that really appeals to me. I think I would like a brighter teal and possibly a green. There is also a beautiful subtle collection with just corals and tans that is very elegant looking.
I’m going to have to go through my stash of Island Batik fabrics and see if I have something close to the Living Coral color.
The Ikea Algot storage system has to be one of my favorite ways to store my batiks. Read more about my Ikea Algot bins. I sure wish we had an Ikea closer to us!
I should make my Forget Me Nots wall hanging again using colors like the Living Coral.
I have two new quilts for Island Batik that I am finishing up, today I’ll sew the labels on the back as I forgot to add them before I did the quilting. These are for Island Batik’s Spring 2019 collections that will be shown at quilt market. Then it is time to finish wrapping up the Christmas presents!
What do you think of the Living Coral Pantone color for 2019? Any plans to create a quilt project with it?

I think this is a really pretty color although I have no immediate plans to use it. I liked the Trippy palette they suggest on the website. Connie, I’m so lucky. I’m within easy driving distance of two Ikea stores and more difficult driving distance of a third. Wish I could send one to you!
I actually like this color!! I chose it as one of my colors for the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt! Probably the closest color to orange that I like! Off to check out more about the Pantone Color of the Year!
Coral is such a beautiful color and I have some items in my closet that I wear. I also just bought some Coral sandles recently. Not sure I have any fabrics in Coral though. Very Refreshing…
Hello Connie, I look forward to seeing the quilts that you use this beautiful fabric in. This is a color I have not done anything with, I do have some fabrics that were given to me, I just can not find the right combination to use them with. Maybe this new year will open up the perfect pattern and combination for me to use it. Thank you for sharing and have a brilliant day!
So happy to see Coral as the color this year. Thanks for ending the Pantone colors. I would never have thought of some of those combinations. I know what will be in most everything I sew this year. That has always been a favorite color for me. You did great showing this.
I like coral. I bought a pair of walking shoes in that color this summer. I hope coral shows up in clothing lines soon. My first quilt – ~30 years ago was a coral color way.
I like Coral don’t think I have much fabric in it, maybe batiks…
I love coral so I’m guessing it will fit into some new project for 2019. And actually, there is lots of coral in the previous Bonnie Hunter mystery On Ringo Lake. I only have a few of the blocks done, so working on more will give me plenty of coral to play with.
