One of my favorite designers is Joanna Figueroa from Fig Tree Quilts and I used her new Farm House line of fabrics from Moda for my Checkmate quilt.
This collection has several black fabrics in it and I chose to use the black fabric with cherries all over it for my border.
It is always fun to take photos of my quilts along the Mississippi river in front of our house.
I always enjoy working with Photoshop and decided to desaturate my Checkmate quilt so I could see what it would look like if I had just used black and white fabrics. I think it looks pretty good!

Beautiful fabrics in this quilt. Great job.
As I look thru all the participating blogs on Kimberly’s Checkmate pattern, I realize they are all so wonderful, all the different fabrics are so fun to see. Makes me want to make this pattern in several different fabric lines! Yours is so pretty and “happy”.
I really like this idea – 4-patches and squares. This would be a great way to use up some of my stash that have been already cut into squares. Makes me want to run down to my sewing room and try out a few blocks, but no time today.
I really like the fabrics used in the quilt. It makes it look more than a simple pattern. I like quick quilts too.
You always have inspiring tutorials and fun projects on your blog. I enjoy following you.
