25th and Pine Charm Pack

It is time to start working on a couple of projects for Christmas, I’m thinking I could use some new holiday pillows. I looked through my Christmas fabric stash for some fabrics that would be good for a Christmas project and I found this charm pack by BasicGrey called 25th and Pine. I’m not sure if I bought it last year…..or the year before.

I’m not even going to tell you how many charm packs I have, they are such a neat way to see the whole line of fabrics in a collection. Do you hoard have charms packs in your stash?

25th and Pine Charm Pack Christmas fabrics

I spread out the neat Christmas fabrics and then cut them into smaller pieces……when someone comes over that doesn’t quilt they can’t understand why I cut fabric into smaller pieces and then……sew them back together. If you are a quilter……you understand!

Darning foot for freeemotion quilting
Freemotion quilted pillow sampler

I have been interested in trying ruler work on my antique Singer sewing machine that I use for all of my free-motion quilting and after watching Patsy’s video I ordered the low-shank foot. Be sure to read Darlene’s post for more information and also visit Patsy Thompson’s website. This foot can also be used for free motion quilting which is what I will probably use it for. I use a metal darning foot now which I have shown in several posts. I even did a free motion sampler pillow.I’ll update you when I get the new foot for my Singer 15-91 sewing machine.

  1. I have quite a few charms packs and finally have used the two Christmas ones in a quilt that I hope to finish in time this year for the holidays.

  2. Cutting up beautiful fabric and sewing it back together is the Life Blood of a quilter. We all understand.

  3. Love that fabric collection! I’ll be waiting to see what you make with it.

  4. I never buy a charm pack. Prefer to do my own combinations, although I find the charm pack combinations beautiful. Love this Christmas pack you got.

  5. I love all of the fabric you chose. You’ll have to let us know how the new foot works on your machine.

  6. I proudly have two charm packs, both were gifts. I love them but haven’t used them yet. And I did buy 2 separate mini charm packs (2 1/2″ squares). They are waiting for me. I LOVE your all white FMQ Sampler pillow. True artistry dear…

  7. The quilted pillow looks great. I love all of the texture. Have fun with all of the charms.

  8. Thanks for the shout out and I look forward to seeing what you create with your new foot. Love all your projects and free-motion quilting. Of course, I think everyone can use more pillows. I know I can and I already have a few pillow projects planned that I need to start working on. Great size to practice FMQ too!

  9. Charm packs? Ummmm, I may have a few ………….bins of those. lol I think I’ve got 3 bins of Christmas charm packs and maybe another bin of others with no specific holiday designation to them. Before I realized you needed more than 1 charm pack to make many of the quilts I liked, that’s all I was buying so I have a good variety of one of this, one of that in charm packs. At one point I realized I needed more than one so I was buying 3 charm packs.

And then there is one specific fabric collection which I absolutely LOVE that felt the need to have a lot of variety in. For that one I not only have fat quarter bundles but also yardage, and many, many charm packs and even mini charms too. Funny thing, even with all of that, I can’t bring myself to touch any of it. LOL

  10. My Christmas fabric stash is overflowing the large drawer it lives in. I’ve had a couple of ideas for things floating around in my head. But I just haven’t gotten the urge to dig into the fabric much yet with our 70 degree November days. The grass is still green and my big red geranium is still blooming. Guess I need a little cold and snow in order to get into the holiday spirit, even for sewing. 🙂

    1. Giggling……..I should be called the pillow and table runner queen!

  11. LOL! of course YOU need another pillow 🙂
I have a fe charm packs that are always calling my name, same with some jelly rolls and I just ACCIDENTALLY placed an order with connecting threads where I’m getting a FQ bundle and a layer cake (I never buy layer cakes, but figured I’d try this and maybe cut down into 5″ squares anyways, we’ll see.

    1. I’m thinking everyone knows I have a gazillion pillows! Accidentally placed a order…..I can relate to that and impulse buying!

    2. Bea: Have you ever seen the Five and Dime quilt. It uses a layer cake and a charm pack. Might be right up your alley with the “accidentally purchased” layer cake! Easy peasy and fun too!
