Monday Happenings 17 In My Studio
In April I’ll be sharing my new Island Batik Ambassador Challenge which will be a quilt made with the Drunkard’s Square quilt block. I am using a solid black batik for my background and a variety of beautiful colors of batiks. Many of them are the stash builder bundles we receive in our ambassador boxes.
Stacks Table Runner
I have a Stacks table runner all pieced and ready to be quilted. I have had several people ask about making this table runner with only 3 fat quarters and yes, your blocks will have the same fabrics touching but I really like the look of it. What do you think?
Vintage Christmas QAL in April
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my next 4 quilt blocks that I have made as part of the Vintage Christmas QAL with Fat Quarter Shop. The quilt is in the book Vintage Christmas by Lori Holt. I am also using Lori Holt’s fabric kit.
You can read more about the QAL with Fat Quarter Shop and the kits are back in stock!
I think I forgot to share my March quilt blocks so here they are.
Stacks Quilt in Quilt Town Fat Quarters
My Stacks quilt made with the Quilt Town fat quarters is finished, I just need to take it outside and get some better photos.
The fabric I found in my stash worked perfectly for my binding. As you can see, I always put my binding on by machine.
Mallard Ducks Visiting
Our Mallard ducks showed up last week and the hen has been spending time sitting in our water pail. They has started coming up to our front door which is surprising. When they sit out by the bird feeders it is amazing to see people with their dogs walk by and never even notice them.
Rusty and his neighbor
Rusty was visiting with our neighbor’s dog who is a regular size Australian Shepard. Her name is Piper and she is a sweetie. The only time Rusty will go to the fence is when I am there talking to Piper. He gets a little jealous. Yes those are leaves from last fall.
Card Making
I am still having fun making cards and I have made quite a few. Yes, I’m having fun.
One of my favorite places to shop is Scrapbook.com. You always get something free when you place an order, I love that!
These beautiful cards were made with stencils and die cuts from Taylor Expressions which is right here in town. I am really enjoying their store and every week they have a new Make & Take card.

Connie, I always enjoy your post. Your quilt is beautiful. I love the cards you have done and it is great that you enjoy making them. I am making a table runner that you sew on paper. Really enjoy seeing how it comes out. Also great seeing the ducks. They look right at home. Enjoy your week.
Hi Connie Dear. You certainly do stay busy. I always love your fabrics and quiltings and now I am loving your card making. Rusty is such a sweet boy. I am sure Piper just wants to be friends. Spring has Sprung and the allergies are massive this year. Happy Creating My Friend. Sherry
I LOVE the fat quarter stack patterns — I plan on doing one with 5 fat quarters — the idea is to cut into ONLY 5 sections is that correct? Then do you still switch under to the bottom 2, 3, 4, & 5 portions (like we did the 9 quarter.) ?? That would make it interesting also — just wondered if I was on the right road Thanks!
Leaves. UGH!!!! I work and work to keep up with the leaves in the fall then the oak tree drops its leaves in the winter and I have leaf clean up in the spring. UGH! UGH! UGH! My niece was visiting from Minnesota last week and cleaned out my front flower beds. I didn’t notice your leaves because of Rusty and his new friend. So Cute!
The Stacks quilt is beautiful!! The cards are awesome. So happy to see Rusty enjoying the neighbors dog. That is a cute picture. We still have snow on the ground.
Your newest cards are absolutely delightful. So pretty. No ducks for us, but we have been seeing some stray cats. And they visit more often now that my husband has started feeding them. Last winter it was wild turkeys he fed every day, this winter it has been kitties.
Your cards are beautiful! I can see why you are enjoying making them. Rusty is a gorgeous dog. His coat is so smooth and silky looking. I’m so glad y’all got him. He deserves the good life that he’s living.
Love the card with pink edges. So beautiful.
