I recently did a blog post for AccuQuilt showing how to easily make this beautiful batik pillow. The tutorial is another fast and easy one featuring the 12″ GO! Qube and also the new 12″ Companion Set.
Visit AccuQuilt’s blog for the entire Purple Shadows pillow tutorial.
I have really enjoyed working with the 12″ GO! Qube and recently received the GO! Qube Companion set. The new 12″ GO Qube Companion Set includes 3 dies that can be used separately or with the 12″ GO Qube. I don’t know about you, but I never seem to have too many pillows. I have always liked the Drunkard’s Path block but it is a time consuming block to cut out. When I used the Companion Drunkard’s Path die I was finished in no time!

I wanted to include a photo of the way I pressed my blocks. The Drunkard’s Path blocks were pressed toward the center but I pressed the block seams open. This will make it easier to do my free motion quilting.
Save this for later!
Don't worry, I promise not to spam you.
For my quilting I just did a straight stitch using #40 weight Fantastico, a variegated thread from Superior Threads.
If you need help making the pillow backing I show photos of it on my Rosy Applique Pillow Tutorial.
Enjoy your beautiful pillow!
AccuQuilt also makes a 4″ Drunkard’s Path die. If you don’t have the AccuQuilt Drunkard’s Path dies, there are several different templates on the market including several by Elisa’s Backporch Design or Wright’s.
If you are looking for more ideas for using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 12″ Block (55778), you might enjoy some of my previous quilt tutorials.

What a beautiful pillow. I love the way you quilted it, too.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your pressing strategy. Your linear quilting enhances the curved piecing. Drunkard’s Path is one of my favorite patterns.
Lovely! Thank you for sharing!
Connie Dear your Drunkard’s Path Purple Pillow is stunning! Thank you for sharing your easy techniques for making this. Sweet September…
great pillow Connie 🙂
Very pretty! I love having pretty pillows around but my husband ends up tossing them elsewhere because they are in his way. I especially love the quilting you did – just a simple straight stitch close together.
That is gorgeous and I LOVE the quilting on it.
