The Denim & Daisies fabrics were part of the September Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop. The Denim & Daisies Jolly Bar is also available on their website.

Jolly Bar Bakewell Quilt Pattern

There were two different patterns included in the subscription box and there was also a link to the Jolly Bar Bakewell quilt pattern which is free. I thought it would be fun to make. It uses one simple block that is rotated.

Free-motion Quilting

I used my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine to sew and quilt this quilt. I used a Hobbs Premium 80/20 Heirloom batting and a 50wt Aurifil thread.

Watch me free-motion quilt it in my video.

Cute Backing

I have a stash of fabrics that I used when I was doing crafts shows….25 years ago! I found this cute fabric with kitties on it and thought it was perfect for the backing.

I’m glad I saw this, Connie. I love that fabric line and it’s nice to see it made up in this quilt. I can always use a fast project like this one! Beautiful quilting and so happy to see Rusty in your photos.

  2. Sheryl Harrison says:

That’s a pretty quilt. Thanks for including sweet Rusty in the video.

  3. Love it! You’re so fast…I’ve got that same sewing box but haven’t gotten to it yet. Rusty is just too cute.

  4. Thanks love this new pattern – I drop my feed dogs, put on a quilter’s foot, loosen the pressure but mine still doesn’t move as well as your quilting. Any secrets you can share? Love this quilt! Thanks
    And thanks to the “model”!

    1. Hi Joan, if you watch my video you will see how I use my hands to guide the fabric since the feed dogs are dropped.

  5. I love the quilt, do you baste the 3 layers before quilting. Rusty is so cute.

  6. Nice to see you at work Connie. You make it look easy. I shall give fmq another try. Rusty always looks like he’s smiling. I think he’s wondering what quilt he’ll get next. Lol

    1. Hi Judith, when it is a small quilt like this, I just use a couple of regular pins to hold everything in place. A bigger quilt I would use quilting pins.
