Sunflower Spice Blog Hop with Jennifer Thomas
Today is my day on the Sunflower Spice Blog Hop with Jennifer Thomas. Keep reading to learn about 2 giveaways!
I am excited to share the quilt project that I made using the beautiful Sunflower Spice fabrics from Island Batik by Lumin Fabrics, a signature collection designed by Jerry Khieve for Jennifer Thomas of Curlicue Creations.

Beautiful Batiks
It was hard to decide which of the Sunflower Spice batiks I wanted to use for my quilt project as all of the colors are so neat.
I finally decided to go with a warm grouping of red, yellow and orange for this table topper.

Sawtooth Star Quilt Blocks
One of my favorite quilt blocks to make is the Sawtooth Star and I do have a tutorial for it.

Diamond in a Square
I made some teeny tiny 2-inch Diamond in a Square quilt blocks for the corners. Here is a great photo of the sunflower batik that I used for my border.

Sunflower Spice Wall Hanging
My quilted piece is 25″ x 25″ and would have a beautiful wall hanging also. I am almost finished with the pattern and hope to have it done by the end of the blog hop.

Dogs on Quilts
We have been watching my daughter’s dog all weekend and I tried to get a photo of her and Rusty on my quilt. It didn’t work out to well.

Just Me and the Dogs
My granddaughter came over to pick up Tasha and I asked her to take a photo of me with the dogs by the wall hanging. I think she did a great job.

This is an amazing quilt! Could be my new favorite for the Fourth Fireworks! (we put a shower curtain on the ground first then put the quilt on top – keeps the grass stains off and the dampness out.) I bet everyone will stop my to see this one! It’s wonderful! Thanks!
Thanks Joan, that is a great idea to use a shower curtain!
Your quilt is gorgeous. I would call it Blazing Stars.
I’m not good at naming quilts. The only thing I could think of is “Stars around the block”.
This is so pretty, Connie! I love the reds and yellows!
I would call your quilt Sanoma Sunrise
Spicy Stars or Sunny Stars
I have enjoyed reading your blog post and the comments and ideas for names that followed! I do think many of us are on the same track for a name, but I like short names for quilts… thinking about the quilt labels that we all put on our quilts 😉 So I am suggesting “Zesty” or if you want to keep the sunflower in the fabric line name “Sunflower Zing”
Starry Sunset
And great squirrel pictures!!
Next time I read your email or blog I will be in Florida. We are leaving Idaho to be near our grandkids ( and kids)😅
My quilt name recommendation is “ Sunshine Days.”
First thought that came to me was Sun Fire. Beautiful!
Spring to Fall
(Shoo)fly to the Sun
Hi Connie,
The name that came to me for your gorgeous quilt was Sunshine Time.
Love your wallhanging and those colors are gorgeous! I would call this one Sunshine in a Box. We all need sunshine in a box sometimes, and this one fills the bill!
Name Idea for your quilt name – “Sunflower Spice Sunset or Sunrise”
Love the summer colors! Summer has definitely arrived here in Omaha! Seems it wasn’t too long ago I was complaining it wasn’t warm enough. This heat and humidity is a killer! Storms almost every night too!
Thanks Lori, we have been having storms and muggy weather also. I prefer winter.
Name my quilt give-away
Sunshine and stars
Starry sunshine day
I just love seeing photos of dogs on your quilts! I’d call this quilt Spicy Stars as a nod to both the fabric collection and the design. It’s beautiful!
I am going to suggest the name Stars in the Desert for your quilt. Rusty just keeps getting more and more handsome. You can tell he has a lot of character. Tasha looks like a sweetie also.
Hi Connie, The colors are awesome and so is the pattern.
I would call it Star Crossed Autum!

Fire on the Mountain- 2nd suggestion
Your project is beautiful and I love the bright colors in this collection.
Beautiful fabric on your table runner. Nice pictures, I also have a rabbit that was here last year and she is here this spring again. I spoil her/him with fresh carrot shavings and soon be planting a window box of parsley.
I read everyone’s suggestions for a name to make sure I hadn’t thought of something someone had already said. I live in the vast state of Wyoming, and I see “PRAIRIE SUNRISE” as the name of your beautiful quilt. I see those colors popping up in flowers on the top of the cactus in the fields, in wildflowers, and on sunny days on the prairie. Thank you for this naming contest. It’s fun!
You could call it spicy stars or all spiced up.
Fabrics are beautiful

Thanks Dawn

Thanks Michele
Gorgeous fabric and gorgeous quilt!
Since it looks like Rusty has claimed it, how about Rusty’s Stars!
Love how he’ always ready for a photo op! Our last dog would shy away from the camera whenever we tried to take a picture. He was a rescue so I’m thinking he was abused.
Thanks Yevonne, Rusty is a rescue also and after 3 years he is only now becoming more comfortable with a camera pointed at him.
That turned out beautifully in those fabrics. The design is fabulous. It is a perfect summer quilt in those colors so I’d name it Hot Summer Nights. Nice picture e of you and the pups together.
Thanks Mary
