What’s In Your Bag!

What’s In Your Bag!
Have you ever made a bag or tote? I hope you enjoy seeing the one I made for the What’s in you bag challenge.
Travel Duffle Bag 2.1
I haven’t made a bag in quite some time but I decided to make the Travel Duffle Bag 2.1 as a gift for my daughter to use when she travels. It was definitely a challenge for me!
Fabrics and Supplies
I picked the batiks and ByAnnie supplied the zippers, webbing, stabilizer, interfacing, and hardware.
Flutter Fields Collection
I picked 3 batiks from the Flutter Fields collection with the lightest color being the lining in the tote.
You can find the Flutter Fields Collections at Fat Quarter Shop.
Fabrics and Supplies
The first thing to do was to quilt the front fabric, ByAnnie Soft and Stable stabilizer and lining. I quilted one large piece on my vintage Singer 15-91 sewing machine and then cut the pieces apart according to the pattern.
The pattern is well written and there are also videos you can watch for the different steps. Believe me, I watched them! One of the first things you will want to do is make a copy of the labels to add to your pieces to help you in putting the tote together.
Thank Goodness For Wonder Clips!
The hardest part of the pattern was the final step of adding the sides and then the binding. Using Wonder Clips is suggested and really helps.
You’ll also want to use a Schmetz Jeans/Denim needle size 100/16 and sew slowly.
Rusty Approved
Rusty is really becoming a ham! I sat the tote on the outdoor couch and he was right there. Most of the photos I took out front….sorry Rusty!
Front of the Travel Duffle Bag
This is the front of the Trave Duffle Bag. There are zipper pockets on each side of the center pocket. The finished bag measures 13-inches high by 21-inches wide and 8-inches deep. It is ByAnnie’s biggest duffle.
Back of the Travel Duffle Bag
The back of the Travel Duffle Bag includes a trolley sleeve to secure the bag to rolling luggage. I am sure my daughter will love this! There is a padded adjustable carrying strap and quick-grab handles.
Side of the Travel Duffle Bag
Each side has another pocket and you can see how the detachable, adjustable strap are attached.
Travel Duffle Bag 2.1
It was a challenge to make the Travel Duffle Bag 2.1 for the first time but now it would be much simpler and I should make another right away while everything is fresh in my mind.
I want to thank Island Batik and byAnnie.com for everything needed to make this beautiful bag. Being an ambassador for Island Batik means that there may be quilt projects that push me out of my comfort range but are so worth it!

Happy sewing, Danielle
I love your new OLLIE TOTE and you posted that you will have to make another one so you don’t forget how..if you don’t have another daughter to give it to, I am available..
Thanks for sharing this super tote.
Pat
What a pretty bag, and a wonderful gift! This one is on my list of bags I would like to tackle!
What a lovely bag, so professional looking. I think Rusty is ready to go on an adventure.
Love your tote!! Looks great. And I especially love Rusty’s sweet smile.
Love it; fantastic job 👏
By Annie patterns and hardware are terrific, always have great results. And can’t go wrong with Island Batiks!!
That suitcase handle is pure genius! And the padded shoulder!!!! And the zip pocket!!! So many great things about this AND it’s BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thanks Rusty for pointing out the glorious color!
Wow what a great bag and as usual you did a beautiful job making it! I have made one of Annie’s small bags and with her videos, it was a good experience. The batiks are beautiful colors too.
Your bag challenge turned out awesome. I have a friend who has made many many bags from by Annie. I’m in awe of anyone e who can do that. What a challenge glad you enjoyed it. Go get another started.
Thanks Francine, I know if I did them more often it would be so much easier. I love my table runners and quilts!
Your bag was great! They can be challenging! Just like anything new to us, the more you make, the easier it gets! You did great! I’m sure your daughter will love it! 👍🏻😊💕
If she doesn’t like it, you can send it my way! Ha ha! 😁
What a great bag. I love making bags. This one looks like a real challenge and you made it beautifully. Your daughter will love it.
You did a beautiful job on the duffle bag. I’ve made bags and totes but don’t enjoy it as much as making quilts, tablerunners, etc. So I can see how detailed this bag was to make and you did a great job. Maybe Rusty was so happy because he thinks that’s his travel bag and you’re taking him on a journey. Give him a big hug for all of us that love to see him.
I sure wish Rusty liked to ride in a car! I’m with you……tablerunners and quilts are indeed more fun!
Your Duffle Bag is fantastic, Connie! I made the Round Trip Duffle my first year and it is very similar. I think Rusty says he might be able to fit in that bag and go on a trip with you or your daughter!! LOL You chose beautiful fabrics.
Your bags are always beautiful Brenda!
Your bag turned out nice. I have a a few bag patterns in my stash I’ve yet to make.
Love Rusty!
Thanks Meari, you should make one of them!
Very nice looking bag Connie, you daughter will love it!
Very cute duffle bag, and I really like the batiks you chose! Nice job!
I’m glad to hear that even you, Connie as an experienced sewist, has more difficulty with items you haven’t sewn in a while. I thought it was just me getting older! Your bag turned out beautifully!
LOL, I never consider myself an expert and there is always something we either haven’t tried or haven’t made in a long time. It does seem like the older I get……the more I forget!
That is a beautiful bag and will be great for traveling.
I just bought that pattern!! How long do you think it took you altogether? I have the fabric but have to buy the rest yet!!
I only worked on it a bit every other day so it took me about a week and a half. Now if I kept at it, I think a couple of days. Make sure to copy the tags and pin to each section as you cut!
Love your fabric choices, admire your sewing work.
Thanks Sue!
