Batik Fabrics

I never seem to get tired of making table toppers….especially out of batiks. I had a little bundle of batiks from Island Batik and I decided to do a quick and easy project with them.

  • Cut (18) 3″ x 8″ rectangles of assorted colors
  • Use a 1/4 inch seam allowance when stitching
  • Sew (3) rectangles together on the long side

Quilt the Table Topper

Cut a backing fabric that is a couple of inches bigger than the table topper

  • Backing fabric – 1/2 yard
  • Batting – 15 inches x 22-1/2 inches

Quilt as desired, I decided to do a simple free-motion stitch with some loops.

Binding

  • Hopefully you have a bit of fabric in your stash that can be used for the binding. Otherwise you will need 1/4 yard or a fat quarter.
  • Add binding – cut (2) 2-1/2 inch strips width of fabric
