Do you like making quilted bags? I just finished the Renee’s Retreat Bag and it is beautiful.
Renee’s Retreat Bag
I recently signed up for a new quilting subscription box. It is from Sewers Club and something neat is that it looks like the pattern and kit are available on their website without signing up for a subscription. I can’t remember if the subscription is always bags, I guess I’ll find out because I signed up for 3 months.
Renee’s Retreat Bag Pattern
This is the pattern that is in the box along with the fabrics and everything needed to make the bag.
What’s In The Box
The fabric is by Tula Pink and I received 2 fat quarter pieces. There was a small spool of Guttermann thread (I ended up using almost all of it). There was 1 yard of white zipper tape with a purple coil with 2 beautiful flower tabs. I also received enough Bosal Fusible Foam Stabilizer to make the retreat bag. Also included was a cute Rainbow 3½” Scissors. I didn’t even know that rainbow scissors was a thing but there all kinds of them on Amazon!
Quilting the Fabric
The pattern has you quilt the fabric for the bag. You know I like doing my free motion meandering so that is how I quilted it. I show it in my video!
Renee’s Retreat Bag
Here is my finished Renee’s Retreat Bag. This was the first time I have used zippers by the yard without a pull tab on it. I was supposed to separate the zipper pieces and sew them on and then add the pull but I was afraid it wouldn’t work so I put one pull on and added the zipper the normal way.
It worked but once I was done I understood why you were supposed to add both pulls. I should have watched a video first. Oh well, I still like it!

Here is a closer look at my finished bag. See how much of the zipper I have left? The pull is adorable and I will definitely be making some type of bag with it.

This is my ByAnnie Travel Duffle Bag 2.1 post that I made and gave to my daughter. She loves it and it was a challenge but I look forward to making another of her bags.

I like this cute bag that you made. So I looked up this Sewers Club and I am considering joining it. I love little bag projects. Most of the projects look very nice and I think the price is reasonable.
Yes I do enjoy making bags, and recently on a trip south met another “new” friend, in person, but before this only on the internet, who also makes bags, hers are super smart. We shared ideas, and now although many kilometres apart, share thoughts by phone. That retreat bag and the fabric are wonderful.

It is beautiful! Love the zipper pull. In addition to being cute, it provides you with something to grip when opening the zipper. Also I could’ve watched you quilt it all day long! Very mesmerizing.
