One Monthly Goal – January Challenge

Last week I did a post sharing 12 UFOs that I hope to finish this year. If you are a new quilter and wondering what quilters are talking about when they mention a UFO – they are talking about a unfinished object…..quilt object – there are many reasons for them. Most of mine are just waiting to be quilted, I guess I enjoy piecing more than anything.

I wrote out my list and #6 was chosen for the All People Quilt Challenge. Batik table topper and place mats
There are quite a few different challenges and things going on and I almost forgot about Patty’s One Monthly Goal.
Batik Placemats UFO 6Patty from Elm Street Quilts is doing her One Monthly Goal challenge where you can share something that you are planning on working on this month. Then you come back at the end of the month and show what you have accomplished. Notice she doesn’t say you HAVE to finish it!  It is that accountability thing again!

One Monthly GoalJewel Tutorial

I wrote a tutorial for the Jewel Table Runner last year and it has recently been shared at FaveQuilts.com.  You can find the tutorial on my site here.
Jewel Table Runner Tutorial
FaveQuilts buttonI am embarrassed to say that I got a email last night from someone who was having trouble with the block measurements I had in the tutorial…….unfortunately for her it was wrong but has now been fixed. I have decided to make myself another table runner with this tutorial as my daughter has this one in her bedroom. I think I’ll work on it……today in between other projects!Jewel Batik Fat Quarters

  1. Very pretty, lovely colours. I too am taking part in the OMG event, helps me to stay on track and get things done.

  2. I do like the idea of a monthly project goal. Congratulatons on being featured. The colors you have selected are gorgeous. Wonderful beginnng to 2017 dear.

  3. I joined the OMG this month as well / I think it might help me keep on track with things. Love the vibrant colors in your project and will check out Fave Quilts! 🙂

  4. What lovely fabrics! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal.

  5. I really like the table runner. Could it be made without the 3 white strips that I see dividing it in the Jewel tone one. Both color ways the jewel and the new one are really pretty.

  6. Pat Evans says:

I saw the table runner on Fave Quilts a few minutes ago and laughed to myself because I knew it was yours just from the picture!

  7. I really like the colors you selected for your new runner… “nighttime on the Mississippi”–very calming with hints of undertow and shimmers of lights from the shore. I’m channeling Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn here, I think.
Your circle table placemats are lovely. I’m wondering if Mom would like something like those for her table. She doesn’t get out, and we drop in and bring lunch to her.
Stay warm! It’s frigid here this morning.
