March 2026 UFO Challenge

Can you believe it is March already? We have had a mild winter so far but I’ve spent plenty of time in my studio quilting. Have you been working on any quilt projects that you have had?

Share the quilt UFO you plan to work on this month and then later come back and show us how much you got done.

My February UFO Challenge Completed

Last month the number I drew was #7 which was 4 different bag projects. I actually got them all finished! The last one was just finished a couple of days ago.

My March UFO Challenge

If you watch my video you’ll see that I showed the bags and the UFO projects I have left and then I drew one for March. It was #5.

#5 UFO

This was another box that has been waiting patiently to get completed. There are 70 half square triangles and some background fabric. I think I have an idea of what I’m going to make! This would have been a great one to pick in September with these fall colors.

YAY! I got one of my UFOs finished up, actually in February, but just did my PHD update! Thanks for the linky!

  2. Congratulations on your bag finishes. I’m sure you have tons of things to fill them. Loving the HSTs for this month. It would have been a great fall project, but now you will have a fall quilt to display.

Congrats on all you accomplished in February! Your bags and mini quilts all look so nice.
I was stuck with a longarm problem and finally got it working again. Thread breaking time and time again. The first pass across the quilt went fine. Then the second pass the top thread kept breaking. I did all the things to fix it, and finally gave in and changed out the top thread. And then it quilting just fine. Isn’t that strange that the thread worked fine the first pass then didn’t for second pass?

    1. Glad you got it fixed Sharon, my problem started out with the loops in the back (turned out I missed the place by the needle to put my thread behind). I switched, thread then the needle and…..I couldn’t get the screw to hold the needle. Tried 6 different needles, husband tried and tried doing something with screw but no luck. We are driving to Hiawatha, IA about 2 hours away, tomorrow to Nolting as it sounds like the inside thread for the screw is bad. I have had my used machine 3 years so I figure it is time for maintenance also. Bob thinks I should buy a new machine…..ugh.

  4. Good Morning, Connie. I’m sitting here, finishing my coffee and preparing to deliver my tax info to the accountant and then I might, maybe, possibly think about UFOs. There is also the NES category (Never Even Started). My most likely UFO is on my design board now. I started it in February 2025 and pulled it out again a couple of months ago and haven’t really touched it. I appear to be highly unmotivated these days. Hoping the onset of spring will get me moving again. Have a great day.

  5. Love your bags, and the fabric combinations are outstanding. Choosing fabric is the hardest part for me. I can’t wait to see what you do with the HST’s. Those are some wonderful colors, too.
