Creating beautiful quilt designs is something I really enjoy doing and Hopscotch is one of my favorite quilt patterns!

Once again Amy Ellis from Amy’s Creative Side has a Quilter’s Blogger Festival going on and I decided to enter my Hopscotch quilt. I actually made this quilt twice as the purple one went away to Quilt Market and stores for a little over a year.

Since the original quilt was gone before I finished the pattern…..I made the quilt a second time with batiks again but using a cream for a completely different take on the quilt.

Notice how both quilts aren’t the same size? When I made the second quilt I didn’t add the first border which made it just a little bit smaller. Then I threw the quilt in the wash machine and dryer on medium heat. As you can see it shrunk a little bit……actually about 4 inches.

I used Hobbs 80/20 batting. The batiks were a group of Island Batik batiks. I always add a Shout Color Catcher in the wash and so far have never had the fabric bleed.

  1. I am still catching up on quilt festival posts. Always love seeing your quilts and I think the colours in this one are stunning. Great to see how different it looks also in the creams. It really shows how use of colour can change the appearance of a quilt. Great quilts!

  2. Hi Connie,
I love the Hopscotch quilts. I’m glad you said they were the same pattern – while they look a bit the same, the different color patterns sure makes them look different. I think I like the purple one better, although I’m not usually drawn to purple. I will check out the link to this pattern. Thank you! ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Gorgeous Hopscotch Quilt. Amazing how differently the two colorways turn out. I love the drama of the dark purples. Quilting Bliss Dear…<3

  4. Thanks for sharing with the Blogger’s Quilt Festival!! Your pattern looks good with light or dark “boxes.”

  5. I love the Hopscotch idea. I have a LOT of 2.5″ squares cut, so maybe this is what I could do with them.

  6. Two very pretty quilts. Those batiks are wonderful. I really need to dig through my batiks and make something.

  7. I’ve liked Hopscotch since you first posted it. One of these days I’ll get around to making it myself!
