Have you been wanting to learn how to free-motion quilt or just practice some new designs? Then this is a book that I think will interest you. I reviewed Free-Motion Quilting For Beginners and Those Who Think They Can’t by Molly Hanson for Martingale and was surprised at all of the neat free-motion stitches she did and also the fun projects!
I will definitely be making a few of these cute baskets! There are 15 different projects and 10 different quilting designs in the book.
This would be a neat free-motion design that uses words in it.
I have done a little bit with the bark look free-motion quilting and Molly shares several projects as she shows how to do it.
A laptop sleeve would be fun to make.
I can’t wait to work with this design.
One of the best projects to practice free-motion quilting is place-mats and pot holders.
This is your basic stipple quilting……which is still my favorite.
Have you wanted to learn pebbling? Molly will show that technique and….you can also make these cute totes!
Pebbling is easier than you think.
A background of free-motion paisleys is something I will be practicing on.
I can make a single one, isn’t this tote a great way to practice designs!
I get lost on the overall design but the diagrams in this book should help me do it.
There is a pattern for a dog cushion and tips on using the design on a fabric for the quilting.
Swirls is another great pattern to learn.
There are two totes shown with the swirl design.
After teaching you the fundamentals, there is a chapter on custom quilting by combining designs that is very interesting.

FMQ is my favorite part of the whole process! When I am making anything, it's the quilting of it that occupies my mind. So much fun!!
Learning to free motion quilt is on my "to do" list. I have tried a little, but it hasn't gone to well. LOL! Maybe I will get this book and that will help. 🙂
