Crystal Cove Swirl Away Aurifil Quilt Block
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.I finished up this beautiful block this morning made with a beautiful collection of batiks called Crystal Cove. It is Aurifil’s 2016 January Designer of the Month block designed by Heather Valentine. It is no surprise that I made it out of batiks.
I used the Crystal Cove collection that I will also use for my upcoming post as part of the Island Batik Planes, Trains & Automobiles Blog Hop in February.
The quilt block was designed by Heather Valentine from The Sewing Loft and you can read and find the quilt block pattern on the Aurifil blog.
I rearranged my design wall again last night. I had taken everything down to take photos and then left it blank. That lasted about 5 hours and I couldn’t stand it anymore.
I also was going through things and….found this beautiful color wheel I had bought last fall with the intention of hanging it on my wall….I had forgotten I had it. It is by Joen Wolfrom and you can find it here.
I have been going through my wall hanging and I have several from past Valentine’s Day posts, I’m going to put a post together with all the links in it. I feel so much better with all the color on my wall!

Your design wall is like a beautiful rainbow of happiness!
BEAUTIFUL block Connie! And I love your new room! The wall looks GREAT! Lots of !!!'s to you today.
I love that block pattern, and yours in batiks is beautiful!
I like the block and especially the colors. The pattern is quite different.
In 2010 I realized that I need more "movement" of color in my show quilts and started working on that. I made 2 color wheels with my 1895 batiks using the regular 12 colors and then made one from the Ives color wheel out of Joan Wolfrom's book "Color Play". I keep them on my design wall and they are so nice to have – Especially when auditioning fabrics for projects.
Great block, but that design wall is a delight!!! Now you just need more hours in a day to work away 🙂
Great batik version! I just finished mine… lots of swearing happened when I was working on mine 🙂
Love your inspiration wall!
I do love this block. You fabrics are perfect for it! If only there were more hours in the day. And … What a great studio you have there!
Your wall looks great!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love those batiks…
That wall is great and what a beautiful block, too.
Lovely new block and your wall looks terrific!
Love what you have used for the block – has given me an idea for how I could use some of my batiks. Also live you rearranged sewing room
Those batiks make a gorgeous block. I hate to see my design wall empty too, even if there are just a couple orphan blocks slapped up there, it just makes the space so much more cheerful.
