Batik Maple Leaves

I just laid it on top of my Roly Poly Owl pillow – I couldn’t resist laying it on the pillow to see what it looked like. When I want to try out something different I usually make either a mug rug or a place-mat. What I wanted to show with this was the difference in size of the maple leaves. I did one using the Accuquilt GO! Baby Fall Medley die and the other one using the Sizzix Big Shot and Leaves #2 die.
I really like both dies and they have different uses depending on what you want to make. The leaves were cut from a beautiful fat quarter of batik that I wish I would have had more of.
I cut my backing a couple inches bigger and after I quilted it I trimmed it leaving about 3/4 of an inch. Then I folded it over and sewed it down on the front as binding.
I did my usual appliquilt type applique and then stipple quilted the background.
We now have ONE new maple leaf place-mat…..you just never know what will show up on our table! The maple leaf in my signature is one of the leaves I made and then deleted the background in Photoshop.
Today we head to town as Builder Bob is going to remove and install a new garage door for my girlfriend….what a sweetie!
God's give you very creative mind. I like your creative work. Your pillow cover is such a very nice.
Those fabrics were made for this project! It looks great!
Pretty!
Great job! I made a runner with that GO! die last year and still just love it. I love your stitching to add the veins to the leaves
Love the fabrics and design! It all looks amazing :o)
That's a beautiful placemat, and it would certainly make a beautiful pillow, too! Whoop whoop!!

It looks great as either the placemat or the pillow and I love that batik and can understand why you wish you had more , just perfect for leaves.
Oh Connie, your pillows and placemats are beautiful. Inspirational. Gosh, these would also make such great Christmas gifts too. But right now I just want to make them to decorate my home. Love them.
Thanks for sharing.

It would look lovely as either a pillow or a place mat.
You couldn't have found a fabric that was more perfect for this project.
Love it.

I can see why you want more of the batik – it does make gorgeous leaves.
Just wondering if I could borrow some of those little elves that must work in your sewing room? I need help for Christmas. : )
love the placemats! But roly poly owl pillow is just adorable! Great fabric choices.
Liking your fabric choices!!!!
Very pretty…great use of a Batik!
Your leaves are amazing – so realistic 🙂
Great job! I like the place mat better than the pillow, too — It needs company now!! 🙂
That batik is perfect for fall leaves! A table of completely different but similar placements made with a unifying theme or color would be very pretty.
looks great connie the leave looks so realistic in that fabric!
Beautiful!!!
Looking good!
great placemat…now you need three more…lol
The batik for the leaves is so beautiful. My favorite is the pillow.
Have a nice day and take care
