September Color of the Month Challenge 2026

The color for September is MAGENTA. This is a color that is between red and purple and a fun color for this month.

Magenta Color Challenge

Magenta Batiks

I looked through my batik stash for fabrics for my September blocks. I thought any of these would work.

The first thing I did was make my Churn Dash quilt blocks. Many times I get asked about mixing batiks and regular quilt fabrics and yes, I do it all the time. The white I am using is a white premium muslin.

Many times I use the muslin on the back of my quilts and I cut up the leftovers for projects like this.

Monthly Churn Dash Quilt Blocks

Here are all of the Churn Dash quilt blocks so far. I’m not crazy about the blue ones I made so I might redo them.

I am also making a couple of the Morning Glory quilt blocks.

Morning Glory Quilt Blocks

This month I made the Morning Glory quilt quilt blocks that I was missing which were the red and teal ones. Now I’m all caught up. I will definitely be adding sashing to these.

Make sure you do not have RSV. Get the test to be sure. It is nasty.

  2. The more I look at those Morning Glory blocks the more I want to make a quilt with those.
Poor Rusty! He’s gotten used to you taking his picture! Our last dog was camera shy.
I’m also looking forward to cooler weather. We are having a heat advisory this week. I feel sorry for the children having to deal with this heat. I wish the schools would wait until after Labor Day to start.
We will just have to stay cool indoors and quilt.
