Just Another Monday

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Ankeny, Iowa. It’s a little chilly but I like it that way. The first grass mowing of the season happened yesterday, I am pretty sure that means we can put away the snow shovel.

Friday Night Cardmaking

Friday night was a lot of fun making cards with all 3 grandchildren and my daughter. We had lots of laughs and my granddaughter grabbed dinner from Chick-fil-A and brought it home. I forgot to take pictures of what everyone else made.

Here are the cards I worked on, I am really enjoying mixed media lately.

UFO and Color Challenge

We are getting close to the end of the month and I hope you have shared your Color Challenge and UFO for the month and get entered into the giveaway.

Hopscotch Quilt Pattern

The other day I showed the fat quarter bundles of Sheer Bliss that MSQ sent me. I am thinking of remaking my Hopscotch quilt pattern using them.

My pattern calls for a strip set but it would be fun to make it with these fabrics. What do you think?

Wildlife

The squirrels and birds have really been visiting our feeders. Two of my neighbors said they haven’t seen Red-winged Black birds in a long time and we have quite a few in our yard. Their song is beautiful. There are two in the feeders but you can’t see the red and yellow on the side. The yellow Goldfinches are also back.

The plant is my Sumac, I wanted to get a photo because I think in a week the leaves will be open.

Two Squirrels

It is normal for us to have four or five squirrels at the feeders all the time. Can you see one in the feeder and one on the tree branch?

My Assistant

When I’m downstairs in my studio so is Rusty. He has a bed down there but many times this is where he likes to lay.

New Quilts

Here is a sneak peek at the quilts I just got back from Island Batik that are in their Spring catalog. It will be a bit before I can share them and the patterns. Some other things I’ve been working on, seems like I have quilts everywhere right now.

  1. Your hopscotch quilt will be so pretty in those fabrics, but I love the colors of the first one. It’s always fun to imagine a mowing “season” since it is year round here. Your studio assistant looks about as helpful as mine. lol. Your cards are beautiful. It looks like you are enjoying it.

Your emails are always so nice. Thanks for sharing.
I returned from a Caribbean cruise yesterday. We stopped on the island of St. Kitts where we visited Caribelle Batik at the Romney Manor. They demonstrated and explained the process used to make batik fabric. It was so beautiful. I bought a pound of batik 5 inch squares and am excited to make a quilt from it.
    Have a lovely day!

  3. That’s a lovely fabric pull for your Hopscotch quilt. Is Rusty napping in front of your card making supplies, or are those all quilt patterns?
We don’t get Red winged black birds in our yard, but we do get a nice variety of other birds. Just on Gold Finch so far that I’ve seen this spring.

Yes to the second choice of fabrics, they are beautiful, and different to the vibrant purples and more. Rusty, a bit like some of our cats who would always be close by my machine. Freezing cold here today, about 10C, feels like 6C, snow about 1.5 hours north of us, Fire lit and warm winter clothes all on.

  5. The fabric from Missouri Star is beautiful. Makes me want some too!!

  6. I looked at the Hopscotch presentations and saw Mr. Mickey. Saddens me each time I see him, but glad you have Rusty.

Love your cards! They’re really pretty. That hopscotch quilt is nice love the colors. I think the new colors will work nicely

  8. Wow! You’ve been busy. I love the cards, and I do think the hopscotch quilt would be very pretty in the fabric you’ve chosen. I can’t wait to see it. I always enjoy seeing all of the “critters” that show up in your yard. I feed a couple of feral cats. They are so entertaining and so much company.

  9. Beautiful cards, as always! What pretty colors you’ve chosen for the new Hopscotch quilt. It will be a winner!
