Somebody has a birthday today! Okay, my sewing machine and I were both born in the same year but I don’t know the exact date so I’ll just pick my birthday. Now if you take the time to look at “our” pictures you might find a giveaway at the end.

61 Years old today

I’m getting to the age where having pictures taken just isn’t as much fun as it used to be………

61 Years old today

My 15-91 Singer and I are showing a little wear and tear but….we’re both still running working!

61 Years old today

A couple weeks ago I was reading about taking a self photo of yourself and you are supposed to turn your head 45 degrees…..I don’t know about that………..notice a little difference in hair color…this was taken a couple days ago.

I figured I had better color my hair as it was getting pretty light and the roots were grey. Yep, my hair is really grey but have you ever tried to quit coloring your hair….my niece is a stylist and she said the only grey they have is a Chrome color which doesn’t sound very good and every time I start to grow it out I go crazy.

61 Years old today

I have decided that I prefer photos like this one, far, far away – by the way this is the new downstairs bathroom. This way you can’t see all the wrinkles…..my face is starting to look like the bathroom wall….we’re not even going to talk about my body.

Truthfully I am very grateful to have another birthday, good health and plenty of quilting projects to last me another 30 years!

  15. Happy Birthday Connie ~ To you and your machine. I hope your weekend away means you are having a great time too.

I figure as long as my family is still around and wants to be with me that those icky signs of old age don't matter that much. Well, they do to US but at least we're still breathing right?

Have a great weekend. Eat some cake for me. I'd like chocolate please. 🙂

  16. Happy Birthday Connie! You and your machine look wonderful. Your niece does a great job with your hair. I wish mine looked so thick and full. I have thin hair and I alway wish they were thicker. Hope you all stayed safe threw the storms that pasted through last night.

  17. Happy Birthday Connie and Singer! You look great! I hope I age as well as you two! Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. Happy Birthday to a 61-year-old blogger from a 56-year-old blogger. And what gray and wrinkles are you talking about, girl? Guess my old eyes just aren't seeing them, lol! Hope you have a enjoyable day – you sure are going to spend a lot of time answering comments!

  19. Hope you are having a wonderful birthday weekend! Yes, birthdays are great…for someone else. My May bd involves Medicare…yikes! Happy sewing with that great little Singer.

  21. Happy Birthday! Each and every one is a cause for celebration, so do it up right. Hope your day is filled with things that make you happy.

  22. Well, Happy, Happy Birthday to the two of you! You both look pretty great to me. I'll be 57 this year. Last year, I made the big switch from being a blonde to letting the eau-naturale gray make its appearance. I like not having the hassle of coloring every 3 weeks and I can say that I'm happy with the true color God gave me for these graceful years. Enjoy your special day and be especially blessed at this wonderful time of your life!! Kathy

  23. Happy Birthday! I, too, am 61 and have been rejuvenated both in my quilting and in my day-to-day life by connecting with wonderful bloggers like you. It's so much fun to "listen in" on your lives and quilting adventures. Have a wonderful birthday!

  24. Happy Birthday! Stop worrying about the grey hairs. You have earned every one of them. Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway.

  25. Happy Birthday to you both. The saying that: With age comes wisdom, girl that is so true. count yourself blessed. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  26. Happy 61st!!!! I am totally impressed that you are using a machine that age – well done. Enjoy your 60's – they're fabulous!

  27. I think you look like a young 61 so don't fret! Loved reading your post. And I know what you mean about the hair color. I'm in need of a color right now and am reminded of it EVERY TIME I look in the mirror….. By my next cut, I may be scheduling a color to go with it.

  28. Happy Birthday! I know what you mean about the hair color thing – I can'tsee me ever stopping. Thanks for the give away!

  29. Thank-you for the chance to win the charm pack. This gives me a good opportunity to thank you for your blog posts. I do look forward to seeing them each day.

  30. Many, Many, Happy Returns to you on your Birthday Connie 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.
I love your machine, both you and your machine do some beautiful work!!
The machine I have that is closest to my age is my Singer Featherweight 222K. She was born in Aug 57 and I was in Aug 55.
I had my haircut the other day and finally got the last of my colour cut out. I am now my natural colour of blended grey, silver and dark brownish. My mum will have a fit when she sees me 😉 LOL..
    All the best! Elly

  31. …..and another happy wish for your BD. I started getting a few white hairs when I was 17! Dyed it for years. What a hassle! Now I'm all grey and love, well like it. Less time coloring hair equals more time to sew! Would love to win that beautiful material.

  32. Happy Birthday to both of you! May you have many more productive birthdays! I love moda fabrics and would really love to win the giveaway.

  33. Happy Birthday! I really enjoy your tips and tutorial's and look forward to reading your blog daily. I especially enjoy your cat helpers.
I would love to win the charm pack of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket for Moda.

  34. Happy Birthday To You! And your Singer! You sure look good. I gave up trying to cover the 'grey' and now it's more white or platinum as I call it. Have a great time and thank you for the giveaway.

  35. Happy Birthday to you Connie, You look lovely in the photos.I did notice the hair colour it really suits you. Mine was dyed blonde once but I let it grow out by having streaks, now it is white and I like the white it is. A good style helps.

  36. Happy Birthday! Hope it was great! You're both looking terrific for being 61! Nothing to be ashamed of there. 🙂

  37. You and your machine are beautiful! I love your blog and read it faithfully. I LOVE your Ruby flower table runners! They will be my next project.

  38. Happy Birthday to both you and your Singer…..it must be nice to have such a faithful machine to celebrate the milestones in life. Wishing you many more happy celebrations!!!!

  39. Happy Birthday to both of you! I know exactly what you mean about the coloring your hair. I was a blond until mid twenties then after having my children my hair started to get a darker, then many years later it became more of a light brown. Now with the greys, I don't recognize myself so definitely a bottle color was needed. Was able to stop coloring for several years but yuck! with my blond complexion, it just made me look so old that I've been coloring ever since. Jane

  40. Happy Birthday Connie! Hope you had a fabulous day and took time to celebrate. Best wishes to you.

  41. I am new to quilting. I haven't even finished my first quilt, though I am close, I think. I only have the quilting left to do. An amazing friend has helped me understand & to be adventurous with trying something new. I have really enjoyed your blog. I love the new ideas & the great easy to follow instructions. Thank you for your ideas you share. I hope you do continue for another 30 + years. Happy birthday!! ~ Milly Shackelford

  43. Happy Birthday to you and ________what is the name of your machine? (I name my machines…)

My gray got bad after having a baby in my 40's. I colored it a couple of times, chopped it all of short, and now I'm just naturally gray.

  44. Happy Birthday Connie, to your gorgeous self and your little machine too!

Wishing you another 61 years of sewing fun! (and the new bathroom is pretty too!!)

  45. Happy Birthday!!

You don't look a day over 50. I want some of what you are eating and drinking. 😀

I just want to say your beautiful work has inspired me. I have you bookmarked so many times, I had to set up a "Connie" folder.

Keep up the great work. Hopefully you will still be quilting Many Years From Now.

  47. Feliz aniversário!Você está ótima menina, que Deus te abençoe e te dê muuuuiiiitos anos de vida e trabalhos lindos para nosso deleite.Tenha um final de semana inesquecível.Abraços.tiacarminhapezzuto@gmail.com

  48. Connie — Happy Happy Birthday ! You look marvelous — and that machine is pretty too !

Hope you have a special weekend.

  49. Happy Birthday!!! I love your sewing machine! I don't know how old my Mother's sewing machine; but, I do believe it's a tad older than me. Not sure yet. I'll know once I get it. 🙂

  50. Happy birthday, mine is in April, also. I, too, have a 15-91 in a cabinet. The straight stitch is perfect. Thank you for the giveaway.

  51. Happy Birthday to you and your 15-91! You're both still going strong and that's what really counts!
My 15-91 (used exclusively for FMQ) is a 1942 partial blackside, 70 years old – a tad older than me. Anyway, I'd love to be entered in your birthday giveaway – have a wonderful day!

  52. Happy Birthday! I know exactly what you mean about coloring your hair. I'm 63 and I've always heard that your hair grows slower when you get older. Mine is growing faster and I start developing a major root problem after about 3 weeks. Ugh!

  53. Hope you have the Happiest Birthday ever!!! You look fantastic and seem to have the most infectious zeal for life!! Maybe that is why I look forward to your blog posts!

Thanks for the chance to win – I love Salt Air!!

  54. Happy Birthday to you and your sewing machine. You both look great and definitely don't look 61!

    Love that fabric!

  55. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear Connie… Happy B'Day to you! [you hum the tune while reading the words. lol]
All kidding aside, hope you have a lovely day and you look GREAT!

  56. Happy Happy Birthday to you and your machine. I don't see any wrinkles…You look great! Hope your day was special!

  57. Happy Happy Birthday Connie. You and your machine look cute as can be. 🙂
    Hope your day is fabulous.

  58. Happy Birthday to you and Singer.Just like our sewing machines we need regular maintenance and that is what I call my hair coloring day and I intend on taking care of me.

Connie, seriously, I'd have never guessed you were 61 — you look *very* youthful!! Have a terrific day!!! 🙂

  60. Happy birthday to you and your Singer.
My Featherweight was born in 1952 and so was I, so we will be celebrating later this year also. Love my old sewing machines and I use all of them from time to time. Gotta use them so they stay 'young' and moving.

  61. I think that you and your machine are both looking great! My hair is getting grayer by the day but I tell myself that I earned every one of those gray hairs and they're not going anywhere! Happy birthday!

  62. many happy returns of the day! enjoyed your post and pix … good show! the singer i learned on was a little older than yours, but then, i'm a little older, too. have never tried coloring my hair [it's been white for thirty years or so] but my daughter has been coloring hers and has tried to quit, but can't. she, like you, looks pretty darn good, so why not keep the color!

  63. Happy Birthday to both you and your sewing machine. I have one about the same age–it's a powerful machine but I use it much less now that I prefer to treadle. I love that with oil and grease in the right places these machines can continue working until they are twice their current age [or more].

  64. Birthdays can be so much fun at any age. Happy Birthday. We should really be giving you presents but since you insist, thanks for the chance on the charm pack. Have a fun weekend.

  65. You do not look at all like a 61-yr. old anything! haha I can relate to trying to quit coloring the hair. I actually did succeed and I've noticed (a couple of years after I quit coloring) that I don't have as much gray hair as I thought. That first 6-8 months after I quit coloring it was a real shocker though. It's just too high maintenance for me. Happy Birthday to you! Hope you have a great weekend.

  66. Happy Birthday! You definitely don't look 61, you look much younger. I would say early 40's.
    And I love your machine!
The bathroom doesn't look too bad either, LOL.
    Hope you have fun partying!

  67. Wishing you a very, very Happy Birthday! I think you look great!
Your machine looks pretty good too! :))

  68. MOST HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both of you! 61 isn't a bad age… I've been living it for a few months and it hasn't killed me yet. Long life!

  69. Happy birthday! My MIL's solution to going from brown hair to her natural gray/white, was to just progressively get a lighter and lighter blonde color, until it was all gone. Her hair is a beautiful white now.

  70. Happy Birthday to you both! You are both looking great I have to say. Thanks for sharing about the 45 degree tip. I didn't know that. I hope you're having a terrific weekend!

  71. Happy Birthday! Taking pictures of yourself is NOT easy! I like the one with the shadow on your hair, but it doesn't have your sewing machine in it. My Mom and Mom in law are both turning 60 next month, so I'll be busy preparing for that and that fabric would go well with my surprise!

  72. Happy Birthday!!! Hope you are enjoying your party weekend. I wish you and your little Singer many many more happy years of quilting together.

  73. Happy Birthday Connie! You'll have a lot of responding to do it looks like :*) So happy to "enjoy" the day with you. I have a few friends with featherweights made in their birth year – how fun! Mine is not the same year, but I love it anyway. I have a larger Singer somewhat like yours, but I'm not sure what model – it was my grandmother's machine. Have fun partying :*)

  74. Birthday Blessings, dear Connie. You look lovely in all your pictures. Thanks for a chance in your giveaway and may you have the best time celebrating.

  75. Happy birthday Connie. Hope all your wishes come true!
Have a great and wonderful day and thank you for the chance at winning a great giveaway.

  76. Happy Birthday to you! I share the same birth year as you and your machine! I just discovered your blog a few days ago and you are now in my reader. Isn't it fun to give something away on your birthday 🙂

  77. Happy Birthday – your blog has been a great find and you are alsways so generous in your comments – best wishes

  78. Hapyy Birthday! I can't do the 45 degree head turn… because then everyone can see my double chin! LOL I like straight on and the camera just a little above my head! Double chin disapears! LOL Oh, and happy birthday to your machine as well! hehe

  79. Happy Birthday to you both!
I'n happy I'm not the same age as my machine I don't want to be 4 again. LOL

  80. We aren't spring chickens anymore! Now we are known by our deeds, as it should have been all along. Your deeds are beautiful!

  81. Happy Birthday, we have a couple things in common – birth year and having a machine made the same year. (My 61st was a couple months back in Feb.) When I worked I needed to be clean shaven, so now that I've retired decided to let the facial hair grow – its coming in white. Everyone thinks I should be Santa this year – will see. Thanks, … in northern Iowa.

  82. Happy Birthday! I have been trying to grow my hair out too-not successful yet. I decided to put a lot of highlights in to see if that makes it any easier.

  83. Happy Birthday. I love your machine and a happy birthday to it too. I have a number of sewing machines and none of them share my birthday, most of them are older than I am by a number of years and my workhorse is a newer Pfaff. Oh well, I still love them all and spoil them occasionally with a good clean and oil.

  84. Happy 61st birthday to the both of you!!! And, I must say that you both look much younger! 🙂 Enjoy the weekend, and celebrate!! 🙂

  85. Happy Birthday. To you both. My singer and I share the same birth year too! Enjoy each moment since you made it this far and don't let anyone try to improve or fix you. Just be you and love it.

  86. I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I color my hair too and it is a pain to keep up with it……but yours looks great so it's worth the trouble. Best wishes for a wonderful year! The 60s are the new 40s I've heard.

  87. Happy birthday! You look great! Have you had your machine since you were a baby? Thanks for the chance to win.

  88. Happy Birthday, Connie.
I just found your blog via Sew Many Ways Find a Friend Friday. I love your projects and plan to spend some time reading your older posts.
    Enjoy your day!

  89. Happy Birthday, Connie! Today is my "baby's" birthday, too….he's 41 today (how did that happen?) Love your sense of humor and your hints on self-photography. Have a great weekend.

  90. Happy birthday to both of you, Connie. I will have to remember all of the photo tips. 45*??? Hmmmm.

I have the gray hair and often think about doing something different, but I do not want to deal with the roots either. Ugh!

    Have a wonderful time partying!

  91. Hey, Happy Birthday, Connie!! I hope you have a wonderful day. Maybe you and 15-91 will have some quality time together at some point. Hope both of you keep going strong for a long, long time! PS – Love your hair in that 45-degree angle shot!

  92. Happy Birthday to you both! you're both looking so good for your age!
My machine is 38 years old and I'm considerably older than she is!!
    Have a great day!

  93. A very happy birthday to you Connie.
I hope you have a lovely day being spoiled rotten!
Beautiful charm pack you are giving away 🙂

  94. Happy Birthday — what a great way to celebrate — at Attic Window Quilt Shop 🙂 I do a BOM there and Chris has such a great selection that I can never come home empty handed 🙂 Enjoy your day and thanks for the giveaway.

  95. Happy, happy birthday, Connie, to you and your sewing machine!!! Looking good and I'm loving your hair!!! Thanks for the chance to win…

  96. Happy Birthday Connie! You are looking great for 61. I'm 10 years older than you and believe me, the wrinkles and sagging don't stop!! Sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that………

  97. Happy Birthday Connie! We have a birthday in the same week (mine is 9th). Let me tell you I have some grey hairs, a couple of wrinkles and the body …. well we won't go there. And I'm 35! Hope you had a great day. I would love to win your giveaway.

  98. Happy Birthday! I just turned 63 last Saturday. I avoid looking at myself too closely but yesterday while out shopping I accidently looked in a mirror and thought "who is that woman? It can't be me!" I too am happy to be healthy and alive. I've already lost two younger sisters. Hugs! Toni

  99. Happy Birthday Connie!! it's fun to actually see a picture of a blogger, (I often discount the little pic on the side under the bio, it's so small and posed)
I'll just say I thought you were a lot younger!! 🙂 You don't look your age.

  100. Happy birthday to you and your Singer. Enjoy your celebrations. Fantastic mirror in your bathroom .
Thanks for sharing a giveaway of delightful fabric.

  101. Happy Birthday Connie! I want to know….if I hold my head at 45 degrees does that mean this sagging double chin will be hidden? Because if it does I'll practice that faithfully! Blessings, Marlene

  102. HAPPY Birthday!! (to both of you, LOL) I would love to have a machine from the year I was born, that is SO awesome! Thanks for the opportunity!

  103. Happy Birthday Connie! I think you are being hard on yourself, you look fabulous. April is a good month to have a birthday…did I mention I was born in April… LOL 🙂

    Hugs x

  104. Happy Birthday to you! I have let my color grow off….but then, my hair is short. Still, I am about to re-color it as I don't like the grey all that much. Ha ha…I may not like the new color either.

  105. Happy Birthday and have fun celebrating! I was just thinking it would be a miracle if my current sewing machine lasted as long as yours has. They don't make them like them like they use to!

  106. Happy birthday! I use a machine that was born the same year as I was, a lovely Bernina 830. Hope it lasts as long as your Singer.

  107. happy birthday! you look great and so does your machine! My mum still keeps my grandmother's machine and they are so beautiful, it still works very well. Amazing.

  108. Happy birthday! To you and your machine! I think you both look very lovely! Have a wonderful time and be blessed!

  109. Happy Birthday Connie!!! You look wonderful and your hair and photos are great, too! Few days ago I tried to take my own photos, because I cut my long hair short. If I manage to take also with the short hair, I may even show them.
Thank you for a lovely give away!
    Happy weekend! x Teje

  110. Happy Birthday to the both of you! I think I'm 4 or 5 years older than my Singer Featherweight, but she is in way better shape than I am!

  111. Happy Birthday Connie to both you and your machine. How amazing to have a machine the same age as it's owner.
    Have a great weekend celebrating.

  112. I hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I like your downstairs washroom and I too do not like having my picture taken.
