Save the Bees blog hop starts Monday
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Next week I am taking part in Jacquelynne Steve’s FREE block of the month, Save The Bees.
The Block Of the Month patterns are free but you must sign up to receive them by email. Be sure to visit this page on her website and get signed up. You are going to really enjoy this! Did I mention that there will be giveaways!
It won’t surprise you to know that I decided to use Island Batik fabrics for my Save The Bees quilt project. So far these are the batiks I have picked and used in block 1.
I can’t resist showing you a little peek at my block! There just might be a little bee in it! Several of the blocks have applique in them which can be done by hand or by machine. I am using my vintage 15-91 Singer which is only a straight stitch sewing machine so I decided to finish my applique with some free motion raw-edge applique.

I have not used any pen
This is a really cute quilt.
I really want to make these blocks. I am so aware of saving the bees and this is adorable!
Oh dear… I might “have” to join in….. and start something new… it looks so cute! xx
Hello Connie; I am all signed up and not ready to go. LOL. Yep, not one fabric have I picked out. My fabric room is such a disaster in one place. But, I am going to take care of that today. I can not handle it any more. I can not wait to see your block! Your bee is adorable and you did a great job on the stitching! We had another awful day of smoke that is causing me horrible headaches and hubby terrible sinus problems. I hope you have a fabulous day !!
Brenda, I hope the fires stay away from you, keep safe! I actually used a black Micron pen for the little bee’s body.
Cute Bee, did you use coloring to fill him in? What kind of marker if so?
Hi Anita,
Yes I did color him using a black Micron Pen, I thought it would be easier than cutting the tiny black pieces.
What a cute little bee. Looking forward to seeing more.
