New Goodies

My new AccuQuilt dies showed up the other day and I couldn’t wait to try them out. I thought it might be fun to show you the GO! and the GO! Baby both out on my cutting table at the same time. Most of the time I actually have the GO! setup in the other room.

One of the new dies I bought was the Half Square Triangle 2″ Finished #55063. I wanted this die because I can cut out 12 Half Square Triangles at one time. This die is too wide to use with the GO! Baby.

The next die is the AccuQuilt GO! Value die, it comes with the GO! – not the GO! Baby. I bought it a couple years ago.  With it you can cut 3 different shapes and it is a great starter die.

I also bought the Go Triangles in Square 4″ Finished Square #55409 and the new Flying Geese #55456 dies. These are all great shapes to have on had for different blocks. I bought 2 more dies but they are here yet.

AccuQuilt still has a sale going on.

I also bought some thread from Fil-Tec during their Black Friday sale. I bought a spool of Glide a couple months ago and really liked it so I ordered more in a several different colors. This thread is a 40wt  100% polyester and has a sheen to it. I really like it for free motion quilting. My old Singer loves it but my neighbor says her machine doesn’t care for it.

Save this for later!

I'll email you this post so you can come back to it later.

Don't worry, I promise not to spam you.

I figured this would be a good time to try a couple of their other threads so I ordered a Permosoft 50wt  100% polyester and a Cairo-quilt 50wt 100% cotton.

I am very fortunate that my vintage Singer will use just about any thread. I also use Superior Threads  60wt Bottom Line and 50 wt SoFine. Recently I was having problems with my bobbin thread breaking when I was freemotion quilting with Bottom Line on the top and bobbin. I ended up changing to a 80 needle and everything worked great. Another favorite is Aurifil 50wt cotton thread and I was lucky to win a red and white spool from SewCalGal recently.

  2. I love the Aurifil cotton thread. It's the one I use most of the time.

Your new dies will be fun to try out. Our guild is doing a mini retreat in late January and any members with cutters and dies are bringing their things for everyone to try out. I'm looking forward to it.

Pretty new dies! That HST will certainly be helpful with Bonnie's mystery quilt. When I bought my GO! the value die it came with was larger than the one they supply now. I can cut 4- 2.5 " HST at once. I did get some other new dies too. Can't resist a sale.
