Monday Happenings 22 In My Studio
I have been busy quilting this week as it is just too hot to do anything outside. Even little Rusty doesn’t want to stay outside any longer than he needs.
This is week 7 of the Strippy Spools QAL and next week will be the finishing of it. Somehow I ended up 2 blocks short so I’ll finish those today and then get the top pieced. I am sure I had all the blocks done, watch and I’ll find them after I finish make 2 more.
Here is what I have done so far. I am using the Strippy Spools quilt pattern from Fat Quarter Shop and the Berry Market Rolie Polie by Beverly McCullough and also some of her matching fabrics.
Tula Pink Full Moon Forest
I finished piecing my Tula Pink Full Moon Forest quilt top on Friday and when my daughter came over she said it looked old fashioned. Hmm, those are not old fashioned fabrics! This was a layer cake gifted to me by Missouri Star Quilt Company.
I had enough of the Tula Pink Full Moon Forest layer cake leftover to make a simple border. Once I did this and then quilted it, my daughter really liked it. I have to admit that the border adds a lot.
Tula Pink Full Moon Forest Rusty Approved
Rusty has really become an expert at posing. Sometimes I can barely put a quilt on the couch before he jumps up and poses. It is hard to believe that 2 years ago he was terrified if I pointed a camera at him.
Look What Came!
Can you guess what this is?? I just received two big boxes from Island Batik! As an Island Batik ambassador, we receive fabric and goodies twice a year to complete our monthly challenges. I did take a sneak peek and can’t wait to share with you soon.
Card Making
I am still making cards and my supplies are starting to share space with my quilt fabrics and supplies. When I don’t have a quilt on the longarm, I can put lots of card making stuff on it.
Sharing Space
Every Friday night is cardmaking with my daughter and grandson. We laugh and have so much fun. I clean off my big cutting table and that is where we all work most of the time. These cards were like a puzzle and fun to put together.

Hello Connie,
I appreciated looking at your card making area. I too, love making cards and when I am not quilting that’s what I do. Thanks for sharing pics of the area that you use.
Your Tula quilt turned out beautifully. Those colors are so pretty. Your card making nights sound not only productive, but fun too.
I love your quilt Tula Pink full moon. I usually am not drawn to bright colors but this one really caught my eye. Maybe because of sweet Rusty!
I love your Tula Pink quilt with the border. And apparently Rusty loves it too!! Can’t wait to see what you unbox from Island Batik!!
Pat B.
I love that full moon forest quilt. Is there a tutorial? Rusty has good taste. It is good to see him enjoying doing it.
Looking fwd to seeing what is in those boxes from Island Batik.
Re: Your daughter’s first comment about your quilt, children have a knack for keeping us humble.
Quilt Tula pink is beautiful. I agree the border is perfect.
Your stair rail makes a beautiful place to display a quilt. The Tula quilt is beautiful! I agree with Rusty. I approve too!
Your projects are all wonderful. I really like those cards, if I lived closer we’d have to have card making fun too!!
Such a beautiful quilting/sewing space.
Connie,
You are busy as usual with your many crafts. Both quilts are beautiful. It is a good time to get out of the heat and complete a few. I can see Rusty, after posing, will be glad to go back inside.
I’m presently working on a small applique kit while trying to decide what project to start next. I do have a quilt kit for which the blocks are made, so may put that together & ready to quilt. Hope I can find the backing, then get it finished.
der Quilt ist super und der Rand hebt ihn sehr hervor.
Wie sind die Karten gemacht ? Gestickt ?
Hugs Gabi
So wonderful that you have time to craft, create and just play together with family! I was surprised how much the border enhanced the Tula quilt – it was interesting to see the before and after!
Your Tula Pink quilt is just darling!!! I agree that the border really takes it to the next level. Great job.
Love the tula pink quilt!
I LOVE your Tula pink quilt. Apparently Rusty does too! I agree that the border made it. It turned out beautiful.
Your cards are just delightful – so fun looking. So is the Tula quilt.
Good morning from scorching hot AZ (111). I really like that Tilda quilt – really nice.
I just finished the “Crazy Quilt”. The hardest part was trimming as the rolls were to go diagonal, came out great. Now working on a table runner.
Your cards are lovely!
