Cute Quilts For Kids

It is published by Martingale and would be a great addition to anyone’s library. The next time you have a baby quilt to make and need it in a hurry – make one of these.
There are 9 adorable patterns in this book. Projects are easy enough for a beginner and also enticing for more experienced quilters. You will learn basic applique and embellishing techniques using rick rack, ruffles and more.
The book has great color photos of each quilt and diagrams to help you make each quilt. The applique pieces are full size and each one is labeled telling you how many to cut and what color.
Anchors Aweigh – we get to see sailboats go by on the Mississippi, and this is perfect with little boats in each corner. This would be great for some little boy. I really like the addition of the rick rack around the squares.
For me, the easiest way to review a book is to make something that is in it. I didn’t have time for a whole quilt but I just had to try this little sailboat. The directions were very easy to follow and there were great diagrams so you knew exactly what size to cut everything and how to layout the pieces. I did a couple of things differently….I had no rickrack on hand so I just cut a 3/4 inch piece of batik and folded the raw edges to the back making it 1/4 inch and sewed that down. My flag…..yes, it is a little smaller…my bad…..but it still works! The sails are three dimensional and if there was a breeze….they would move.
This is so cute and I may just make a pillow out of it!
Tromp, Chomp, Stomp has to be my favorite quilt in the book and would be cute for either a little girl or boy. Cute little dinosaurs with prairie points on them!
Tutu Cute – this quilt is so simple to make and the addition of the tulle is a clever accent.
What is cuter than ladybugs and flowers! Ladybug Landing would also look great in any fun prints for kids.
What sweet little butterflies! They are dimensional in this little quilt called Butterfly Kisses. The way the butterflies are made is very simple and durable so there won’t be any problem washing this quilt.
Are We There Yet? What a perfect name for this quilt! Have you ever wanted to make a chevron quilt? This is so cute and the appliqued cars along with the stop and go sign makes another cute boy quilt.
Flowers and ruffles create this cute quilt called You Are My Sunshine.
Rodeo Roundup would make a fun quilt for some little cowboy. Take a look at the cute hat and boots!
This is really a sweet little quilt – Rickrack Ruffles – the name says it all.
Did you know if you buy a quilt book from Martingale you also get a e-book when you order a print version. I prefer print versions of books but a e-book is nice so you can print the appliques with your printer.

Thanks for the review. That is a really a cute book.
Oh my gosh Connie! That is definitely a great book to have. I see a number of those adorable quilts that all three of my grandchildren would just love.
In looking all of those you have shown, I don't think I could being to even think of choosing which is my favorite.
I guess the name of the book says it all, cute quilts! (for kids)
I love the rodeo quilt!
This book looks like such fun, thanks for the review!!
Fantastic review Connie! You have me sold… Beautiful quilts. Thanks for sharing. Karen
Thanks for sharing the book. I think I need to add it to my library too. I have added 2 great grandsons and a great niece just in the last few months. Sure more are on the way, given the age of my grandchildren! Life goes on!
Those are awesome! I never thought about putting an applique on top of the quilt stitching like that! And in looking at them..you could alter them all just a little bit to make them more adult too! Instead of dinosaurs, use cars or high heels or a favorite theme! I'll keep this all in mind!
What a cute book. Thanks for the review.
What a cute book Connie…love your little sailboat!! Thanks for the review 🙂
Connie…thank you for the preview. You are right, it would make a perfect addition to my library of quilt books! I appreciate your in-depth peek into the projects. I especially like all the dimensional pieces of the quilts.
What a great book. I LOVE the care one!
