2026 Studio Tour

It has been a while since I did a tour of my quilt studio. It is now also my cardmaking studio. Be sure and watch my video.

Tour of my studio

Coming down the steps

When you come downstairs, the first thing you see is this set of 3 bookshelves that have some of my batik fabrics and all of my Accuquilt dies. I really love the Qubes as you can tell.

I mentioned in my video that the wall hanging is hiding a collection of fabrics that will be my Signature collection for Island Batik this spring. I can’t wait to share them!

Batiks and Accuquilt dies

Cutting Table

My favorite thing in my studio is this table. It was originally a woodworking table for Bob. He cut the height down for me and I have 4 cutting mats on top of it. The table is also on wheels so I can move it.

It has really come in handy now that we are into cardmaking. All 4 of us can work at this table and visit.

Island Batik Storage

As an Island Batik ambassador, you work on different projects each month. I used these mesh containers to keep my fabrics ready and anything else that was needed that month. I also store my Taylored Expressions paper and some other goodies.

Bamboo Shelves

I really like these 6 tier bamboo shelves I have bought from Amazon. I started out with one and now have five! I also like these clear containers. You can also buy the Bright Room ones at Target.

15-91 Singer Sewing Machine

This is my favorite sewing machine. Would you believe it was manufactured in 1951 and still sews perfectly. I like having the cabinets on each side. They are on wheels and can also be moved.

Standing Table

My friend Vicki from Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting recently shared her new quilt room and this table that she bought. I was using a plastic foldup table behind my sewing machine and I decided I wanted a 54-inch standing table behind my sewing machine. I can also raise it if I want to stand and work on a project.

My old sewing machine table is about a half inch taller than my drawers and Builder Bob was going to shorten the table the other day. The table is the original from 1951. When we turned it upside down we found there were metal stops on each leg. Obviously they have never been removed and we couldn’t get them off. Sawing such a small amount off of the legs would have meant hitting that metal piece so we didn’t do it.

Cardmaking

This year I have really had fun making cards with my daughter and the grandkids. I did a little reorganizing in my studio.

Cardmaking

Supplies for Cardmaking

Rusty is always with me, here are 3 more of the 6 tier bamboo shelves. They work great for storing the stamps, dies and other things for cardmaking. Taylored Expressions is just blocks away and I love to shop there.

Ironing Station

I love having this old desk as my ironing station. I covered the entire top with 2 Novodon Merino Wool Pressing Mats. I also have another 15-91 sewing machine that I normally use to fill bobbins.

One More Sewing Machine

I use this sewing machine for applique and sewing batting pieces together. I used it to do all the fancy stitching on this Crazy quilt.

Ever Sewn

Storage Room

In the video I shared a look at my quilt storage room. Normally everything is nicely folded but recently I pulled a bunch of them out and haven’t taken the time to put them back neatly. I will

Connie Dear your studio is amazing and I love all that you create in there. Hugs…

  2. Love your sewing studio. Loved the tour. Mine is only a 10×10 bedroom, so I store a lot in either the garage or my guest room, or under the bed. I am so jealous of your room, but at least I have a sewing room. There was a time when I didn’t have a sewing room. My room is a mess as I tend to work on several projects at a time. My scraps tend to get overwhelming, but I do basically know where my stuff is in my room. What I could really use is more storage space, or maybe I just need to finish more projects, so my they leave my room.

    1. Thanks Susan, I have had small rooms in the past and even then I liked to work on more than one project at a time like you. I did have storage elsewhere.

  3. Kathy in WV says:

Oh my, Connie…you would surely love the nice shade of GREEN I am right now….lol….your studio is “to die for”. Mine is such a mess right now…you’ve inspired me to clear clutter, purge and straighten up. It will never be “show-worthy” as all my furniture, shelving, etc or a hodgepodge of styles and colors. Sigh! Thank you for sharing…you are always very inspiring! Blessings from West Virginia!

  4. I loved your tour. So organized. Every quilter’s dream.
As we came down the stairs, you had a wall hanging hiding
a collection of fabrics. Is that your pattern? Love the colors.

  5. Wow, nice room. What do you do with all of your quilts? And your stash?

  6. I’m new to all of this, so I’m a bit envious. All of this color makes me happy. Beautiful treasures!

  7. Louise Ann Johnson says:

Connie, I love your room. I have watched you for several years, but never realized how much you have. I have so much also, and like you, a couple of different crafts. It’s what we crafters do. Where you got into cards this year I have started chunky yarn. We are the same age so I think our ideas flow such similar ways. Thank you so much for shring and inspiring me to organize a little better!

    1. Thanks Louise, I have been crafting all my life and still love it. Like you, I get interested in a new hobby again and again. Years ago I crocheted and lately I’ve had the urge to make simple dish cloths. (I already have the hooks and yarn). Enjoy!

  8. Connie, your sewing and craft room is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I love it and am so envious. You go girl!!

  9. Loved the video tour of your studio. I wish I had that space for my quilting supplies and the organization as well. I have a one bedroom apartment, so I am limited on the space, but I can take away some of our organiztional ideas.

  10. Well, first off, thanks for the tour. Your organizational skills, no matter what house you were in, were always inspiring. Having such a large space, particularly with windows, would be a dream to me. My work areas and process are a little different and I am always looking for ideas. My long arm takes up so much space, I am always trying to reconfigure the space I have. Jury is still out on that one! Rusty is a sweetheart, he just hangs around and keeps you company, it is adorable. Thanks again.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it Cheryll, now that I have a longarm I know what you mean. I have always liked to move things around. I would have to find 4 strong guys to move the longarm. I really wish I had it facing out toward my cutting table.

  11. I loved seeing your work space! Very impressive. If I had all that much space, I would probably never come upstairs! Hi to Rusty!

    1. LOL, thanks Lori, Rusty and I do spend most of our time down here. If my office was down here we definitely would always be here.

  12. What a great working space! It’s wonderfully organized and so inviting. I’m definitely envious! My space uses 2 former bedrooms and definitely needs more organization….maybe someday. I am working on finishing the quilt top from your Quarter Spins pattern and it has the teal color so hopefully it will be complete before the next months challenge appears. Thank you for sharing.

  13. Carol Robinson says:

GREAT room. Like you I love organizing things. My husband put 8ft shelves along one wall in my quilt room & i’m organizing those 4 shelves with clear plastic boxes and fabric & 4′ book case under the shelves. I have my swing table on another wall under 2 corner windows . I had to put my Suzy cats small fabric quilt( her size) by the window as she likes to be close by me when I sew. She can be downstairs in the family room with her Dad & hear me in the sewing room and comes running chirping the whole way. I have a walk in closet filled with shelves and fabric and one wall with peg board holding “stuff” . My husband made me a cutting table the perfect height to stand and cut . I have bins all around with fabric and UFO’s and must get those organized so I cat get to my hand quilting hoop and finish a crewel needlework quilt that has been on the hoop for months! LOVE all the space you have . You inspire me to get more organized . Gotta clean up Christmas first 🙂 . Have a wonderful 2026 , stay well and keep busy . Rubs to Rusty.

    1. Oh my gosh Carol, your room sounds beautiful and I would love to see a photo of it! Organizing is so much fun and having your kitty with you…..so neat. Rusty is always with me in my studio. I have only hand quilted one large quilt and it took me forever, I guess that is why I love machine quilting.

  14. I wish CA homes had basements! Your studio is fabulous! You have it so well organized. It must be such a delight to spend your creative time down there. I think you now have the perfect setup so you’ll have to stay put! lol

  15. Do you teach a class in organization? I started out with one set of draws, Roy-G-Biv but that soon became a suggestion rather than the rule! HA! Thanks for sharing!

  16. What a beautiful and well organized space. Thank you for the tour! Happy New Year!

  17. Joan Deleon says:

Connie your sewing and quilting space is wonderful, you are blessed to have so much room! I could definitely play in that space! Great job organizing and Rusty is a cutie!

  18. Brenda @ Songbird Designs says:

Great tour, Connie! I’m definitely a little envious of your studio! Mine has kind of taken over most of the house! LOL Good to see little Rusty too. I love those electrical pods and the table. I have plans to get that table soon. I want to put it in the Quilt Cave under the window with the heating/cooling unit to hopefully store either batting or some of my AQ dies. Give Rusty a pat on the head for me! Oh, feel free to head south and organize everything for me too! LOL

    1. Thanks Brenda, the table is wonderful and you’ll have to be sure and look at Vicki’s setup. I’ll give Rusty a pat and wish I could head south and spend time with you!

  19. Connie, I hope this will be your forever home as it would be a shame to lose this wonderful craft room. It would appear your card-making is taking over. Great rearrangement of the room. I don’t know who has more plastic bins & IKEA drawers, you or me. As for me, my crafting is all over the house. The upstairs is full of fabric & yarn which I need to sort through and donate some to my church sewing group. I do have a large family room which is where I do most of my sewing. Your space is ideal with lots of room, windows and outlet to the outside and other amenities that make it a great place to create. You are truly blessed with this space that Rusty enjoys also.

    1. Thanks Beverly, yep I have really been having fun with the cardmaking. This is the first time I’ve had a hobby that my daughter and kids enjoy. I actually have my office upstairs with more “things”.

  20. Connie, you’ve done a great job with your new studio & all your nice shelves. My kitchen table is my area, good thing, hubby eats in his office. I started sewing this past summer ( have back fx & now over fx left arm) but just to let you know our church sewing group( 12 or 14 ladies) made over 7,000 in lSept,2025 bazzar, & over 8,000 @ the Christmas with Santa in Dec 2025. Funds go to getting furniture for the new bldg ( the priest let’s us meet twice a month there).
Congratulations on your beautiful studio. I miss Rusty & pray that you’ll stay well with the little one

  21. Lovely! It was nice to see you studio. I love to have things organized too. I love how you’ve organized your strips and squares, mine are just thrown into a basket. Dump them out when I’m ready to use them, lol. When I saw Rusty, I said hi to him. Such a cutie. We are expecting our first grandchild in April. We are so excited. Been busy sewing for the arrival. Blessings Connie!

  22. Connie, your room and organization are amazing. You’ve really embraced card making. You’re inspiring me to continue my organizing. Thanks for sharing. I’m excited about both the color of the month challenge and the WIP finishes. Thanks for sharing and leading. Loved seeing Rusty.

    1. Hi Rita, yes I get to use the whole basement! Bob has the garage and we also have another room in the basement with just an outside door that we use for storage. I love organizing and I’m glad you’re going to take part in the color challenge and UFOs!

  23. Vicki in MN says:

You are the second person that I enticed to buy one of those tables, hahaha. They are pretty handy. The other day I moved my pressing one right next to the sewing one as I was working on morning star blocks and had to press often. Loved your studio tour, you are so organized!

    1. Thanks for encouraging me to spend money Vicki! I love it and when my daughter saw it last night she really liked it. I sure wish we could have removed those metal feet from my sewing cabinet to get everything to the level of the Ikea cabinets but no matter.

  24. Darlene Sewista says:

Gorgeous sewing room, Connie, and so well organized. I love it.

  25. Wow, Connie, what a great sewing space you have! You are so lucky to have such a large space and so much storage space to hold it all. I am envious. I have more sewing machines, but way less space and have to rotate machines when I want to use them. I would have loved to have such a large space to create in. I do the best I can with the space I have. At least I have a space to create in, so I am not complaining, but I wished I had a larger space that I always dreamed of having.

    1. Hi Daryl, when we were house hunting the priority was my studio. Realtor thought we were crazy LOL. I used to have more sewing machines but cut down to just my important ones. I kind of wish I hadn’t bought the longarm as it sure takes up a lot of room.
