October is always a busy month and as the weather cools I want to be outside more I spent the weekend working on a few things.

Monday Happenings 27 In My Studio

Spin the Wheel

This is a table topper or wall hanging that I made a long time ago and I can’t seem to find the blog post which was in 2016. The pattern is in my shop and is fun to make. I made a couple blocks but still have to add the applique to the center of the blocks. I’m thinking this will be a wall hanging. Do you see Rusty in the background?

October Island Batik Project

As an ambassador for Island Batik this month our project was a ByAnnie bag. Once again I picked a large tote called Get Out of Town 2.1 that will be for my daughter. I have all of the pieced quilted and cut out and I just need to get it all assembled.

Flannel Quilt Again

I had so much fun working with flannel last month and I decided to make another quilt with the Woolies Flannel 2.5 inch strips from Maywood Studio. I love all of the colors and prints in this bundle.

Yesterday was Sunday and I was working on this and realized I didn’t have an Off-white flannel left. This is when I miss JoAnn’s! Hobby Lobby wasn’t open and our Michaels doesn’t have fabric yet. It was a good think I had other things to work on!

Cardmaking

Cardmaking continues to be something I look forward to doing. Every Friday night my daughter, grandson and sometimes one of the granddaughters will come over and we will make cards. I used Distress Watercolor pencils along with stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions.

I even took an Alcohol Marker class at their store and this week my daughter and I will be going to Stamp Joy in Des Moines for a 3 day crafting event!

Good Morning! The Spin block is beautiful, as are your cards. Thank you for offering the 2026 Calendar pages. It’s hands-down the best of any I’ve used and helps motivate me. I print them all at once along with the Checklist and put them on a clipboard. I finished five WIPs so far this year. Thanks again; I’d be lost without them!

  2. LOL, Connie you really make me laugh with joy to see how busy you are & accomplish so very much. I go a lot, & trying to accomplish finishing items, so with your encouragement they’ll get done. Thank y ou, stay well you two & Rusty too

  3. I’m sure you and your daughter will have a blast at the crafting event this weekend. Sound like fun. Your cards are lovely!

The “spin” block is sure pretty, especially in those colors. And the batik bag should be a winner.

  4. Beautiful flannels! And the table topper is pretty!
You are a creative person and it really shows in your work.

I love those three flower cards! Are they with the alcohol markers or the watercolor pencils?

  6. Connie, you are “sew” busy! I’m trying to clear out- too much fabric, too much thread, too many machines.

  7. The cards are really pretty. That would be a fun hobby. My other hobby is miniatures and dollhouses cuz sometimes I just get bored sewing and quilting! It’s good to have a changeup. I’ve also got a small flannel quilt on the go. I should get back to it now that the cooler weather is here.
