It is Monday again, I can’t believe how fast the weeks go by!

Monday Happenings 21 In My Studio

I have been having fun working on several things in my quilt studio. I will ask Alexa to set a 1 hour timer and then I quilt for 1 hour. Then I have her set a timer for 1 hour that I can either work on cardmaking, putting a puzzle together or….maybe do some cleaning! This really breaks up the day and it is amazing how fast the time goes by.

Funky Friends Island Batik

For the month of June the Island Batik Ambassadors are making cute little animals using patterns from the Funky Friends Factory and some of our Island Batik fabrics. I’ll be sharing mine soon!

Tula Pink Full Moon Forest Quilt Blocks

The fabrics in the Tula Pink Full Moon Forest collection are so neat! I received the 10-inch squares from Missouri Star Quilt Company and I also had a 10 inch layer cake of Bella Solids in the Snow color from Moda that I put together to make Half Square Triangles.

8 HSTs At A Time

I made 8 half square triangles at a time by layering one 10 inch square of Tula Pink to the Bella solid. I used a Frixon pen to draw cutting lines diagonally from corner to corner and then stitched a scant 1/4 inch on both sides of the lines. I also drew lines vertically and horizontally that are cutting lines.

I’ll share a tutorial soon on making the HSTs and then trimming them to size for perfectly sized blocks.

Strippy Spools QAL

We are on week 5 of the Strippy Spools QAL and I have 8 of the quilt blocks made. I am using the Strippy Spools quilt pattern from Fat Quarter Shop and the Berry Market Rolie Polie by Beverly McCullough and also some of her matching fabrics. This quilt is going to be so cute!

Wonder & Bloom

My grandson has been buying me puzzles and this one is perfect for a quilter! Look at that beautiful floor. Wonder & Bloom is a 500 piece puzzle, I’m getting a little faster and it was fun to work on. Sometimes I just work on it for a little bit and Rusty sits on the couch by my side. I showed you my new puzzle table last week that has all of the drawers so you can sort out your pieces.

Well I was getting toward the end of the puzzle and I didn’t know what was going on as there weren’t enough pieces. Can you guess what I had done? One drawer still had pieces in it!

Ornamental Sumac

In our front yard there is a flower bed where we have our bird feeds and water for the animals. When we moved here 2 years ago I planted a Ornament Sumac and this year it has really grown and also sent out lots of sucker plants.

When the ducks visit they like to lay under the plants. I am planning on removing some and also giving a few to my daughter.

Calla Lily

I also have a pot with beautiful Calla Lilies in it. I bought this pot with bulbs in the spring from Costco and forgot all about it and never opened it. Last month I finally did and I think I stunted the growth of the bulbs as I seem to have miniature plants growing! I can’t remember the name of the other plants, if you know please leave a comment.

Bob the Builder

Bob had a birthday and my daughter, grandson and I had fun making him cards during our cardmaking Friday night get together. We have been having so much fun doing a hobby together.

I have several places I like to shop for cardmaking supplies. Scrapbook.com has everything and give freebies when you shop.

Happy Birthday to Builder Bob. How fun to make him cards. Your idea of setting a timer is brilliant. Summer Smiles Dear Connie.

I believe the plant coming up is a caladium

  3. The Calla lily is beautiful even though it isn’t tall. What a pretty color! My flowers haven’t been doing well this year except for 1 geranium. I use that same method often for making HSTs. It works very well.

  4. Linda W Matthews says:

Your colorful leaves are likely caladium….a pretty combination!

  5. The other plants with the calla lilies are caladium.
    Happy Birthday Builder Bob.

Hello Connie – Here in “Sunny South-East-Queensland-Australia” it is the coldest winter I can remember. I sit at my computer wrapped in a blanket – cold hands on the keyboard.
It is always a pleasure to see the projects you have completed and that your work extends to so many fun things to do with your family. Happy birthday to Builder Bob. I always love seeing Rusty showing off your quilts. I am about to make your lovely strip place-mats. Love seeing your interesting garden.

  7. Wow. You are busy. I think it is wonderful that you, your daughter and grandson can work together on such a fun hobby. And Bob received three one of a kind birthday cards!! Can’t wait to see the stuffed animal you are working on for Island Batik Ambassadors. Have a great week!!

  8. The other plants are coleus. They are low maintenance and easy to grow.

Very good of you to set a timer, once I get started most often don’t want to stop. I’ve made a patriotic table runner. Also working on bed runner using my new Accuquilt Ohio star disc.
