Hot Stuff Challenge Oliso Carry Bag

For the month of August our Island Batik ambassador challenge was to decorate our Oliso M3Pro Project Iron carrying case that we received in our first ambassador box of items from Island Batik.

I received the Pistachio M3Pro Project iron and a Small Carry Bag that would be great to use if going to a retreat or class. Thank you Oliso and Island Batik for supplying the materials used for this challenge.

Batiks for the Carry Bag

I looked through my stash of fabrics from Island Batik and chose several that I thought would look neat on my bag.

Sizzix Big Shot

Lately I have been having fun with card making using my old Sizzix Big Shot. I looked through my dies and found one with flowers that I thought would be fun to use. Here is one of the first tutorials I ever shared on my blog back in 2011 –Winter Snowflake table topper. Where does the time go?

Flowers

I pressed my fabrics and then used spray starch on them. I didn’t add any Heat n Bond adhesive.

Very Little Fraying

One of the things I really like about Island Batik fabrics is that they don’t fray much which is why they were perfect for this project. I cut out lots of flowers before I decided which I wanted to use.

Aleene’s OK To Wash-It Glue

I wanted the flowers to stay soft and I found some Aleene’s OK To Wash-It glue in my stash. I have no idea how long I have had it but it was still good.

Buttons

My plan was to sew buttons to the center of the flowers but once the glue dried there was no way I could get a needle through it.

Adding Buttons to the Olison Carry Bag

I ended up just using more glue to attach the buttons, at least I don’t have to worry about them falling off!

Finished Floral Oliso Carry Bag

Here is my finished Oliso Carry bag with the flowers. I had to take a photo of it with my Marigolds.

I hope you enjoy seeing it!

Zinnias and marigolds are two of my favorite flowers. Probably because my Mom always planted a row of each in their garden and she let me cut them for bouquets to use in the house. I also made arrangements of violets in a tiny vase she had. I love bouquets in the house

Very pretty flowers!! And the case looks great with your marigolds!

  4. Thanks for showing me that my Sizzix cutting system will have a second use beyond my past cardmaking! Your flowers really liven up the bag and go lovely with the zipper and stitching. It looks so fun now.

  5. That turned out so cute. I love the photoshoot of it in the marigolds.
