Batiks in the snow
Yesterday was a perfect day to go outside and take a picture of a quilted project……beautiful snow on the ground.
My plan the other day…..was to make another place-mat like the ones I made last year for my daughter. (photo below)
I used some pieces of blue and creme batiks that I cut into 1 ¼ inch strips. I couldn’t remember what size I started with in the center sooooooo I tried a 5 inch strip. The place-mat turned out a little small so I added another row of dark and light and it ended up about 12 x 14.
At that point I decided it would just be a table topper and there wouldn’t be a tutorial. I then decided to add a little extra to it and pulled out my Sizzix Big Shot and a flourish die.
I had the perfect match in thread. This is one of the spools of Aurifil thread I won in the Aurifil Designer of the Month, I included a link below in case you wanted to finish up a block before the end of the year.
I think it makes a great little center piece!
Do you sometimes forget things you have made? When I saw this post from last year I thought wow…..I want some of those for myself! I guess I’ll add this to my list for 2014.
