I am happy to say that my January 2026 UFO is finished! If you remember I had picked 12 different quilt projects that I am challenging myself to finish this year and this was #10.

One of my oldest UFOs
I went back through old blog posts and found out that I started this quilt in 2010, this was before I was an ambassador for Island Batik but I was already loving batiks.

Back of Quilt
I pulled some different blue pieces of batik and sewed them together to make my backing.

Vintage Singer for quilting
I used my 15-91 Vintage Singer sewing machine to do the quilting. Luckily I have a table to the left and one behind to support the weight of a big quilt. It has been some time since I quilted a quilt this big on my Singer.

Icy cold outside
We don’t have any snow but it is sure cold outside!

Railing Quilt
I always enjoy showing a quilt on the stair railing.

February UFO Tomorrow!
Come back tomorrow when I’ll have a video which will show what my February UFO will be and also the winner from January.
Uneven 9 Patch Block Tutorial
I plan on writing a pattern for the quilt but I have quite a few other things to do first.
I know some of you will want to start making these blocks are they are fast and perfect for a charm pack you might have.

How do I submit a picture of the UFO I completed in January?
That’s a pretty finish! My UFO is still on the longarm. Hubs had surgery and I didn’t realize the time & stress it would take caring for him. He’s doing great! Back to driving but still has other limitations. Maybe the January UFO will be my February completed UFO.
A very Lovely quilt! It is great seeing how you used different batiks for the backing, also! It gives me ideas for my own backings, which I struggle with sometimes.
Thanks Danette, buying backing can get expensive so I like doing this sometime.
Hi Connie
Love the quilt, I always look forward to seeing what you have been up to.
It seems strange to me that you are experiencing such cold weather – I am in Tasmania, Australia, and we are having some of the hottest temperatures on record! You are expecting snow and we are having heat wave warnings!
Enjoy the cold- it’s easier to get warm that cool
Janine
Another beautiful quilt. We have about 15+ inches of snow here in West Michigan. We also have frigid temperatures. It seems like we spend our time shoveling.
Thanks Susan, I kind of wish we had a bunch of snow but…..I’m sure we will at some point. Stay warm!
Congrats on finishing your ufo. It’s beautiful.
This quilt is beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing your next UFO. Thank you for sharing how to make the block.
That’s a really pretty quilt, Connie. You just can’t beat basic patchwork.
Thanks Pat, I agree – basic and easy!
Your UFO looks very nice.
Thanks
Love your UFO. It is beautiful! Me 😊
Thanks so much Mona!
Your UFO turned out great. I love batiks. For January I finished the top for the baby quilt I started and will be pinning it this week (my great nephew is due 2/28). I also finished a quilt block from a block of the month from 2018 or so and yesterday another quilt block for a raffle quilt a group of us are doing so I did accomplish something while the weather is too cold to do outside things.
Thanks Deb, I can’t wait to see your work! I love, love batiks!
I forgot to tell you, if you want snow I’l give you some. We have between 1 1/2 – 2 ft. in Hamburg, NY (south of Buffalo). It is snowing right now again. ugh!
Oh my Linda! Rusty would love that.
Congrats on the UFO finish! Seems like the perfect one to have on display right now in this cold weather you are having.
Thanks Vicki, I bet you’re glad to be staying warm at your winter place.
What a wonderful quilt. Your determination is inspiring me to challenge myself to complete a UFO monthly.
Thank you for sharing
Deb
Thanks Deb, I hope you’ll join!
That quilt is goregous. It’s a good way to use up some of my scraps. I finished my January quilt last night. But I’m still having trouble with my pc. The man was here 2 hours yesterday. He had a hard time trying to get to work.
It’s a flag panel in the middle and star points on top & bottom made with 6 1/2″ squares. I’ll send a picture asap.
I hope you get your computer fixed, looking forward to seeing your quilt.
Beautiful quilt! I love it! Great pattern for a scrappy stash busting project.
Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you quilt it on your longarm?
I love seeing pictures of your furbabies. All of our furbabies over the years have been either adopted from a shelter, or a stray that adopted us.
Our furbabies have always been that way too. The tension is goofed up on my longarm and I haven’t taken the time to fix it. I love quilting small quilts on my domestic Singer.
