I have one new quilt project to share in my Monday Happenings 30 in my studio as the rest of the time I’m working on things I can’t show.
We had another snowfall Saturday night but it was only a few inches. I love it when there is snow on the ground at night and it is so light out. Rusty and I enjoy walking to Gingerbread Lane where every single house is decorated. It is only a couple of blocks from us and our decorations are out also.
Thank Goodness for a Seam Ripper
When I quilted my Crazy quilt for the Island Batik September Challenge, the tension wasn’t right on my longarm. Ugh. I went ahead and added the binding to the quilt, washed it once to see if the stitching would look better and…it didn’t. This quilt is a gift for my grandson and I knew I couldn’t give it to him like that.
Guess what I did over the weekend? While watching a Netflix movie, I used my seam ripper to remove all of the quilting. I worked in sections and decided to change the thread color to a dark brown. This made it easy to see where I had done the new quilting.
I actually like the dark brown quilting better as you can see the fancy stitching much better. Once I was done, I washed the quilt again. I used Hobbs Tuscany 100% Wool batting which I really love. I always like to wash my quilts before I gift them and this really looks vintage now.

Rusty
It turns out that Rusty loves snow and it is so much fun to watch him stick his head under the snow. Here is what he looks like when he comes to the door.

Soft Squares and Missouri Star Advent Boxes
I splurged this year and bought several Advent boxes. I have 2 more boxes that are 12 day Advent calendars that I will be opening soon.
Right now I am opening the 25 day Soft Squares box and also the 25 day Missouri Star box and I’m also doing a short video each day.
A Peek
Here is a peek at what I received on day 3 from Missouri Star, a cute charm pack that I’ll be able to use on another project in the box.

Here is what I received from Soft Squares on day 3. Fat quarters are always great to add to my stash.

Island Batik Challenge for December
2025 is drawing to a close and for my December Challenge I made a neat table topper using Disappearing 9 Patch blocks. I also have a short tutorial showing how I made this.

Taylored Expressions Advent Calendar
I am still enjoying cardmaking and I’ll have to do a post soon showing all of the changes to my quilt studio. Part of it is now for cardmaking.
I purchased a Advent box from Taylored Expressions and it has been so much fun to open. This was day 1.

I made this birthday card using the package for day 2 which is my grandson’s birthday.

Christmas Card
Here is a card I made using several of the items from the Advent calendar.

2026 Quilt Calendars and Planner
Last week I shared the link to the new 2026 Quilt calendar and there was some trouble with it. Hopefully it downloads correctly now. I also updated the other Quilt calendar and Planner that is in my library. Remember the password to the library is always at the end of my newsletter.

Good to see that Rusty enjoys the snow! LOL He is such a cutie! Love your table topper and the cards are fantastic. You are doing great with them.
Rusty’s snow picture is so cute!
I’ve been enjoying the Missouri Star box again this year. Very fun things so far. You’ve had some really awesome projects this year for Island Batiks, and I’m sure you look forward to seeing new collections and colors all year long.
