Vintage Christmas February Blocks
Each month this year we will make four quilt blocks for the QAL. Lori Holt has 6 inch and 12 inch quilt blocks in her book. We are making the 6 inch blocks.

Vintage Christmas Christmas Star Block
Each block has lots of pieces so the Alphabitties are really handy to use. This block is called the Christmas Star Block and this is number 5 of the blocks in Lori Holt’s Vintage Christmas book for the QAL with Fat Quarter Shop.

February City Sidewalks Block
The next block was fast and easy to make. Here you can see all of the pieces for this block.

February Cozy Star Block
Cozy Star is a beautiful quilt with a variety of fabrics in it.

February Dolly Block
The Dolly block has lots of pieces and some are very, very small! The smallest are 3/4 inch square.
It was handy to have a small cutting mat, a small wool mat and a seam roller right next to my sewing machine.

Dolly Block
Did you notice that the color I used for the dolly’s body disappeared next to the background fabric. I thought about remaking the block but instead I decided to use a pink fabric pen to recolor the pieces. What do you think? Better?

Hi Connie, I love all things Lori Holt and have a large stash of her fabrics along with her books…including the Christmas one! I haven’t had time to start the blocks, but can’t wait! Your blocks turned out so cute. Love the ingenious way you fixed the ‘dolly’ block! She looks way better!!🙂 enjoy making that fabulous quilt and I will enjoy watching your progress!
Happy sewing!
Danielle
Enjoyed the video of the Missouri Star Quilt Company giveaway and thought that the fabric storage container was interesting.
Using that pink fabric pen was genius! It looks really good.
What do you use the felted soap for? Any video’s of your project? Thanks, Carole
I am participating so far in this quilt along. It is annoying with all of the little pieces. But thanks for the info on the girl block. I’m just using scraps so I’ll change it up a bit for her body. Your blocks are cute.
Great fix, Connie! It works! Glad you and I both can stay cozy at home when the ice hits.
WOW! You were busy making all of those blocks. I love all of them. Different and colorful. We are having your Iowa snow. It is coming down really fast and large fluffy flakes. I remember the Iowa snow from when i was growing up many years ago. It is beautiful. I have my stuff out to start another quilt. And my Accuquilt to cut my strips. So fun in the snow, sewing.
Have a good day.
Yes, coloring in the parts on the one block helped a lot. Good thinking. That’s much easier than making a new block.
