A Fun Fat Quarter Quilt Along

I’m taking part in the Strippy Spools Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop using the Strippy Spools pattern by It’s Sew Emma. The sew along officially begins on May 19, 2025, and will run for eight weeks.

This quilt is jelly roll friendly and also a great option for scrap lovers looking to make something fun and colorful. You can read more about this QAL on Fat Quarter Shop’s blog.

Berry Market Fabrics

I choose the Berry Market Rolie Polie by Beverly McCullough for Riley Blake Designs. I just love the colors and prints in her collection. Along with the 40 – 2 1/2 inch strips I also picked up yardage as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to use as my “spool” fabric. I am also going to use white Bella solid for my background fabric.

Follow along with me and several other quilters as we start making our quilt blocks for the Strippy Spools Quilt Along.

The Strippy Spools quilt is a fun quilt project for confident beginners and seasoned quilters alike. The pattern offers two size options:

  • Lap Size: 53.5″ x 66.5″
  • Twin Size: 70.5″ x 82.5″

You can find the Strippy Spools Quilt Pattern at Fat Quarter Shop.

Each Monday, Fat Quarter Shop will share a new part of the pattern, and participants are encouraged to share their progress.

Use the hashtag #FQSStrippySpoolsQuilt and tag @fatquartershop on social media. If Mondays don’t work for you, feel free to post on another day. The important thing is to have fun quilting.
