Monday Happenings 26 In My Studio
I thought this was a perfect time to work on a flannel quilt. This is going to be a Split Rail Fence lap quilt. I still need to put the binding on but Rusty has already claimed it!
It is hard to believe that it will be 3 years in November when we rescued him. Then if you pointed a phone or camera at him he turned away and cringed, not anymore.
I am using the Holly Jolly 2½ inch strips from Missouri Star Quilt Company.
Threaded Chaos Blog Hop
Today is the start of the Island Batik Threaded Chaos blog hop. We were challenged to make a Crazy Quilt with the Spring collection we received as an Island Batik ambassador.
Brenda from Songbird Designs begins the blog hop using the Aurora collection. Be sure and visit her blog and see the beautiful quilt she created using the Quilt as You Go method. Her quilt is stunning!
Sneak Peek
I thought I would share a sneak peek at my quilt which I’ll be sharing on Thursday, September 11th. I am using the Earth Essence collection and made a quilt for my grandson.
Apple Mug Rug
Do you remember my Harvest Pumpkin mug rugs tutorial? I had a mistake in the directions and for me, the easiest way to check this is to make something again.
I thought why not make an apple? I’ll share more on that soon.
Fat Quarter Shop Sew Sampler
Last week I received the August Sew Sampler which had not 1 but 3 charm packs in it! I made a video showing everything in the box.
Card Making
In between quilting I am still making cards. This is such a fun hobby. This is my latest card.
Quilt/Card Making Studio
I think it might be time to share my studio again as I have moved things around quite a bit. I find organizing things is almost a hobby of its own and I love doing it.

Have made crazy blocks but never a quilt. Have plans to do a couple…o e with Halloween fabrics and the other with Christmas scraps.
Yours is great-beautiful fabrics and I like your use of decorative stitches; no wonder your grandson wants it!
Rusty needs that quilt when it is finished. He really looks great with those colors. His coat is beautiful. I love the sneak peak of your upcoming quilt and all the special quilting. It is gorgeous!! And your sewing studio looks fabulous.
Pat B.
Connie, I just love, love, love your card making area! And the cards you have shared are awesome! So is your quilting; that goes without saying! I wish I had a space similar to yours. My tiny area can hardly hold all my fabrics and accessories!
Rusty knows he found a good home and just feels so safe with you:) Soon we will need flannel quilts, good to plan ahead!
I love how your block looks, Connie. I look forward to seeing your quilt. Those mug rugs are sew cute! And Rusty is just such a cutie pie! Give him a pat on the head for me!! Have a great week.
What a lovely picture of Rusty. The quilt looks as if it was made for him 😊 In the three years that you have loved and taken care of him he looks so happy and contented. I do enjoy seeing his pictures and of course the lovely quilts and quilty things you make. Autumn is my favourite time of the year. Best wishes
That flannel quilt looks so cozy. It’ll be great for the cooler temps. Rusty appears to approve too. The Apple mini is as cute as the pumpkin one. I may have to make an addition to my pumpkin. The card section of your studio looks amazing. Everything is so tidy. You newest card is beautiful.
I love the apples! Now I am going to have to make some of those to go with the pumpkins! 🙂
What a sweet picture of Rusty. He must love flannel quilts!
I always look forward to the Island Batik blog hops. Your grandson is going to love that crazy quilt. Can’t wait to see the finished quilt.
Rusty realized quickly how safe and loved he is, so he could relax.
