Fat Quarter Shop Purchase
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.I enjoy getting packages in the mail and I recently purchased a few things from Fat Quarter Shop and I even did a short video showing them.
I read that after you make 10 videos you’ll become better at making them. Hmm, we’ll see LOL. Please check it out if you have a moment.
Fat Quarter Shop Purchase
Let’s take a look at what I purchased.
30’s Playtime Yardage
Let’s take a look at what I purchased. I have started getting the Fat Quarter Shop monthly subscription and in the July box there was three 5-inch charm packs of 30’s Playtime by Linzee McCray for Moda Fabrics.
I have a blog post and video about what was in the Sew Sampler box.
I made a small table topper with some of the charm squares and now I am working on a baby quilt. I ordered a 1/2 yard of one of the fabrics for my binding.
30’s Playtime Baby Quilt
Here is the baby quilt I am working on, I think the blue binding will look great on it.
Home Town Holiday and Alphabitties
In 2025 (not that far away) I am taking part in a blog hop doing a quilt with FSQ and Lori Holt. I’ll be using the Home Town Holiday fabrics so I thought I would purchase a 5-inch stacker so I could make a few sample blocks.
I also picked up a pack of Alphabitties. I normally print out on paper little tags to keep track of pieces for a block but I thought it would be fun to try these. They are plastic and I’ll use Wonder Clips to clips them to the fabric pieces. Have you ever used them?
Moda Scrap Bags
I bought not one but four Moda Scrap Bags just for fun. When I have bought them before the selvage runs along the whole strip. The ones I got are actually 2 1/2inch strips like in a jelly roll.
Three of the bags were identical. I am actually working on a table runner with some of the strips.
I really prefer the selvage strips so I have some more Moda Scrap Bags ordered. We’ll see what I get.
Save this for later!
Don't worry, I promise not to spam you.
First Moda Scrap Bag
I’m not sure what collection this is from but I like the colors. I got one bag of these.
The Other Moda Scrap Bags
These are the fabrics in the other three bags. Quite an odd collection! I combined all of the bags and there are about 7 or 8 of each strip.
Peach Strips
I pulled the peach and cream fabrics and I’m making a table runner that I’ll share soon. I like a challenge trying to figure out what to use fabrics for.

Connie, I recently received an order of Christmas fat quarters from Fat Quarter store and out of 20 fat quarters 7 had selvage edges. I started getting the monthly boxes from the Fat Quarter store and there are some selvage edges in those as well. Can you tell me if it is standard practice to include these (which shortens the available fabric) ? I have ordered numerous fat quarters from several on line stores and have never received a selvage edge on a fat quarter. I have also ordered monthly boxes from others and this has not happened. Thank you !
Hi Rhonda, I have always enjoyed Fat Quarter Shop and purchase from them frequently but only twice have I bought a bundle of fat quarters. As I was writing this I realized I had never opened the packages (that is embarrassing as I bought them a couple of years ago). I just grabbed one package and opened it. Every piece has a selvage edge that is about 1/2 inch, Reading your email from them makes me think this is how the bundles normally come. I believe these are stash builders.
Most patterns that call for Fat Quarters usually have a little leeway when it comes to cutting and you should still be okay with whatever pattern you use. I actually love selvage edges for small quilt projects like mug rugs. I think this subscription is still a good value. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
I love that 30’s playtime quilt. You will love those alphebetties #’s and letters. I’ve had them for awhile now. I keep them in a small plastic container in my cutting table drawer so they don’t get lost. And you are doing a great job with the videos.
Are you still doing the Piece and Quilt Sampler?
I was never doing that sampler Pauline, it is beautiful though.
Hi Connie,
Great job on the video! I enjoyed watching you open up the Moda scrap bags. I’ve never purchased one because I never knew what was inside one. Thanks for showing us. I will definitely consider buying one in the future. Looks like it would be a lot of fun.
Thanks Mary, I ordered a couple more of them and I’ll share when they come!
