I’m thinking about leaves turning colors and cooler days! I decided to make a Fall Four Patch Star table topper. This table topper isn’t made the same way as the other Four Patch Star block tutorials I have shown.

This time I cut each piece of the block out first and then pieced it together for a block that is exactly sized. The unfinished size of this quilt block is 18½-inches.

Use your AccuQuilt 12-inch Qube set

A fast and easy way to cut this block (especially if you want to make enough blocks for a quilt), is to use the AccuQuilt 12-inch Qube set. It has all of the dies you need to make this quilt block.

Four Patch

Sew a four patch using (2) orange and (2) fall print 3½” squares. Use a ¼” seam allowance.

Snowball blocks

Start by drawing a diagonal line on all 3½” squares with a removable marker. I like using my Frixon pens.

Place an orange or fall print 3½” square on top of a cream 6½” square in a corner and stitch on the drawn line. I like to sew just a hair away from the line toward the corner. Fold and iron. Trim off the back pieces.

Make (2) blocks of each color.

Half Square added to rectangles

Next, you want to sew the cream 3½” squares to the 3½” x 6½” rectangle blocks in the same way.

Look at the following photos!

Make 2 with the diagonal line on the cream 3½” square going in this direction.

Make 2 more with the diagonal line on the cream 3½” square going in this direction.

One block is the perfect size for a table topper. You could always make two or three blocks for a large table runner. I did my free motion stipple quilting on my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine.

I had used scraps to make my quilt block and didn’t have enough for the binding so I picked another fabric in my stash and used it for the backing and binding.

The orange Fall Four Patch Star table topper will be perfect on our deck this fall under our tabletop firepit. Want to see what it looks like when it is burning? I showed it in my Easy Scrappy Batik table runner post. I also bought a different one so we will have one on the deck and one on the patio.

Squirrel at the feeder

I am so happy to once again be able to watch squirrels and birds at my feeders. Look at this cute squirrel enjoying some corn. He stayed this way for quite a while!

  4. I was surprised to learn you had difficulty finding a groomer that would let you pick up Rusty right away. All the groomers I’ve used in my area call me as soon as the doggo is ready and I can pick up whenever.

I love the table topper! I think I’m going to attempt this one. I like the look of the quilt, too. I feel like I’ve been enabled, lol.

  6. That is such a cute table topper. I like how it turned out with the orange fabric. I don’t think of using orange, I usually go for the golds and browns. Love the squirrel photo and his gymnastic ability! Ha!
