Diamond Maze Table Topper
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.I had a few blocks left from my Diamond Maze quilt and I decided to make a Diamond Maze table topper out of them that will look perfect on our table this summer.
Most of the time I will use my extra blocks for a pillow but I had some large pieces of the beautiful batik sunflower print and I really wanted to make something that showed off that print.
We had snow, sleet and high winds last week and a Illinois buoy came loose and drifted over to the Iowa side of the Mississippi river. This happens a lot during the winter and it won’t be long before it will be picked up. We saw our first barge and tows the other day…..a definite sign that Spring is on the way!
I had 4 extra blocks, the Diamond Maze quilt won’t come home until next year and I always try and make a couple extra blocks to have on hand.
I thought about setting the blocks on the diagonal.
I added a border around the blocks.
Save this for later!
Don't worry, I promise not to spam you.
Then I added another border.
The large strips of the neat sunflower batik fabric leftover from my Diamond Maze quilt and thought it would be fun to make a large bold table topper. I can’t wait to use this out on our deck this summer.
Now I will have a beautiful Diamond Maze table topper that will match my quilt.
Read more about the Diamond Maze quilt. I used all of these colors of Aurifil thread when I did the free-motion quilting. I also used the cone of white Aurifil for all of the piecing on my Diamond Maze table topper and quilt. The Aurifil cone has 6,462 yards of 50wt thread and lasts forever.
The Diamond Maze quilt pattern is available in my shop.
The moment I saw the pelican on the table topper I thought of Pelly, have you been to visit him? How fun to have a pelican to sit on the table. I am ready for spring!!
Your table topper is beautiful, how nice for you to have a matching one for when your quilt comes home. Of course, I had to delve back into your blog to find out what all the fuss about “Pelly” was all about. How lucky for him to land on such a caring and sympathetic doorstep.
The instant I saw this photo I thought of Pelly and what an adventure you had. Lovely table topper and how fun to have it match your quilt. Spring is near…after we have some very cold deluging rain this weekend. That river is huge! <3
Beautiful, Connie.
Lovely table topper – love this pattern! You have a statue of Pelly!!! I love it!!!!!
Hello Connie; What a fabulous way to use up quilt blocks. Especially ones that you know you want to use with a specific fabric and in this table topper it is just a fabulous creation all the way around! Plus, I always enjoy the way that you present your quilt projects. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic day!
Perfect place for Pelly’s brother to sit…😁😁😁😁
I really like this one. I think it would look good with or without a border.
The fabrics and colors in this are so wonderful. It is a great design and really adds a pop to the table.
