Quilt Block: 6 inch Crossroads Quilt Block Tutorial

Time sure flies! In 2013 I shared a quilt block tutorial for the Crossroads quilt block in 3 different sizes which has always been a very popular post.

I wanted to update the post and add a couple of images for Pinterest but I have searched and searched on my hard drive but can’t find all of the original photos. The next best thing to do is make the block again!

I thought it would be good to just create a new post for just one size of the block right now.

6″ Crossroads Quilt Block

6 inches is the finished size of the block and the unfinished size is 6½”.

Do you have a box of scraps? The box below is batiks that are less than 2½” wide. I don’t get in this that much as I also have separate containers of assorted sizes already cut but for this block, I needed 1½” x 2½” rectangles. I also had a small container of premium muslin scraps that I used for my 2½” squares.

Cutting Sizes:

  • Cut 4 – 2½” x 2½” muslin squares.
  • Cut 10 – 1½” x 2½” rectangles of assorted colors.

Oh, how lovely!! And it uses such small scraps!! I keep saving mine because they are too big to throw away, but I rarely come upon a pattern that uses them!! Thank you!! I also like how easy your tutorial is to follow!

Hello Connie, I was so disappointed yesterday, I could not find fabrics to match (for a man) Connie and right now we are not able to purchase anything. As soon as the new year begins, I will start the process of buying the fabrics. Now, today, you go and put out another fun block pattern for us to try! I pinned it because I know I want to try it also, but I know right now that I have far to many projects going to start another one. LOL. I also want to tell you that I finally completed your special gift and will try and get it sent at the beginning of the first of the month! Thank you so much for all that you do and share on your blog and in the quilting community Connie! Have a fabulous day!
