Bella Skill Builder Quilt A Long
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Guess what I’m going to be working on this year – I recently ordered all of these neat Bella Solids from Fat Quarter Shop and will be using them all year for a quilt along. The solids on the left are the colors that will be used in the Bella Skill Builder QAL but I really liked the fat quarter bundle of orange/green solids and might add some of them.
I also bought the – yes….I have a gazillion rulers but I’ve been wanting this one for a while. So let me see…..so far this is my first ruler for 2017….wonder how many I’ll buy!
Many of you know that I work with batiks…..a lot! For some reason solids have never really appealed to me and I am going to challenge myself to work more with them this year. Maybe I’ll do some fancy free motion quilting on solids! I have slowly been acquiring a stash of solids….we’ll see what happens.
What am I going to do with all of the Bella Solids?
I am going to take part in the Bella Skill Builder QAL that will start February 1st at . The Exclusive Fat Quarter Shop Kit was designed by Sherri McConnell and there will be free patterns and videos to help you learn new piecing skills. Sherri designs beautiful fabric collections and blogs at A Quilting Life, be sure to visit her site.
Each month there will be a free pattern and video – most blocks will use special rulers but don’t worry – there will be templates included in each pattern. I hope you will join me.
Okay, time to clean off my messy table and get to work!
Don’t forget that Fat Quarter Shop has a every day at 10 with a new special.
I have this ruler and have never used it! I have plenty of solids though! Anxiously awaiting to see it’s use!
In 29 years of quilting the only solids I’ve ever worked with have been background fabrics. That fact never came to me until tonight. What is odd is that I love quilts made with solids so I wonder why I’ve never made one?? Hmmmm……maybe it’s time.
Solids are foreign to me as well. I really like the layout of the quilt with no sashing. I’ve seen orphan blocks used that way in antique quilts, and they are so interesting. I’m seeing new “sampler” quilts more and more without sashing. Hummmm…. a new ruler… keep us posted how you like it.I also like the citrus fabrics.
Sounds like fun, I don’t work with a lot of solids either, but like the way some the solids only quilts look.
