Batik Table Runner and Fitbit Update

I finished up a quick table runner using some of the new Island Batik fabrics I received. I also haven’t posted about my Fitbit in a while so I have an update.

When I received the new fall batiks there was a little bundle of green strips that were about 2 inches wide by 10 inches long. I decided to pull them out and take a peek and decided to just sew them together in one long strip.

To make this a fast and easy project I also cut out a piece of backing about 12 inches wide by the width of the fabric and a piece of batting. Then I just did a quilt as you go style runner. I know I did a tutorial on this but…….I can’t find it. In fact, my blog really could use some updating!

Since I didn’t have enough fabric for the binding I decided to zig-zag the edges and add some cotton Cluny lace. I love seeing all the beautiful batiks!

I have a little bit leftover and I will probably make a bath runner with them.

I thought this table runner might look good under the television so I turned on my new Leslie Sansone: Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan to the Green Mile. This is my newest workout by Leslie and it is fun.

I want all of her DVDs and I also bought Leslie Sansone: Walk to the HITS Party Songs thinking that you were exercising to HIT songs…..well you are but the HIT means High-Intensity Training. I’ve only done it a couple of times and it is neat. I’ll keep working on it.

Are you wondering when I’m going to talk about my Fitbit? Well, I wear it constantly and it is a wonderful motivator. I have learned that if I don’t do a workout or a walk I average a little less than 1,000 steps a day.

The goal is 10,000 steps so…….I need to work out. I really, really don’t like sweating but….every morning I’ve been doing that. It is too hot outside for walking and the workout DVDs work your arms and all muscles.

I feel great but I haven’t taken off much weight. I have lost about 8 pounds and I feel more toned but I really, really doubt if I’ll ever have a 20-year-old body again…LOL. I had Bob take a photo the other day of me exercising, I wasn’t going to put it up but what the heck….it is me.

I have been working out every day for 2 1/2 months, I’m still eating out, enjoying a glass of wine……

I am more conscious of what I am eating, I would like to have the weight come off faster but I have no desire to go on a crash diet I won’t stick with.

Great job with keeping up with the workout, Connie! You are looking wonderful! I eat everything too, and I really like to workout. More muscle the better 🙂

  2. I'm very happy that I gifted myself with my Fitbit this summer. I feel so much better and have more energy. I don't always make my 10,000 steps but am very careful about logging my food. I'm down 17 pounds since the 1st of July. And better yet I'm off my blood pressure meds.

  3. you inspire me, I'm too lazy, I SHOULD restart the WII exercise thing I have, it's actually fun once I start, I just have to stick with it! and I bet I WOULD feel better too.

  4. Good for you!! And you may wish you'd lose more weight, but at the same time, as long as you are toning up, you are probably dropping a size or two in the process, and that's a great feeling too!!

  5. You go girl! It's all about feeling better (we put too much stock into what the scale says) and you have already accomplished that. Good luck! Cute little runner… looks perfect under the TV!

I LOVE my FitBit and thank my daughter for gifting it to me for Mother's Day last year. I really do like seeing how many steps, stairs, miles I do in a day. I am not one for exercising but I do try to walk more even if it is parking farther away. I took 3 years to lose 13 pounds while doing Weight Watchers and I have kept it off. Now I am trying for another ten. Congratulations on your steadfast plan. P.S. You look fabulous! Love the green batik runners.

  7. I'm so proud of you…your exercise program sounds fantastic and you've lost eight pounds already…yay you!

  8. Congrats on 2 1/2 months on your exercise program. Like you, I don't like crash diets. What is working for me right now is my daughter's plan…no sugars, so no cookies, cakes, donuts, etc. in the house and if you need something sweet it is Splenda. I eat 3 meals and eat a little less at my main meal. Since Feb. I have lost 55 lbs. but I am also recovering from surgery. It took 3 months before I started really loosing so I think you are at that turning point. Good luck.

  9. Connie, I think it is great that you are sticking with your exercise program. It's hard to get started but once the habit is formed it is much easier and you've done it!! And that slow but sure weight loss is the one that really works best. Congratulations!
