It is always fun to start off with a picture of one of our dogs. Mr. Mickey decided to be the model today. Like the quilt? Keep reading to find out how to get the free pattern.
If you are new to my blog, we are in the middle of a remodel and I haven’t been doing much quilting. Normally you’ll just see the new quilt projects I’m working on but for now……you get a little glimpse at our life.
The remodel is coming along!
We’re getting there, the walls are all finished, lights are hung and the other day I helped Builder Bob set doors.
The trim and casing was delivered yesterday, but Bob’s back was sore so we took the day off and went shopping for pantry cabinets and bathroom fixtures.
We had lunch at Texas Roadhouse and of course brought steak home for the “kids”.
I love the floors! We put down Duraceramic on the entire main level of the house. With two older dogs, it just made sense to do this.
We wanted a staggered floor design and almost…..didn’t get it. Our flooring guy started laying the floor while we weren’t there and than k goodness he ran into a problem with the rooms not being square and called Bob about it to see what he should do. Turns out he had been laying the tiles straight which we didn’t want. Fortunately he was able to remove them and start over.
Kitchen counter and sink
I think I already mentioned that the kitchen counters and sink were to be delivered two weeks ago but a drill bit broke and gouged the counter top so a new one had to be made. It should be delivered this coming Tuesday!
The floor looks darker than it actually is in the photo above. This picture is truer on the colors. I am going to have so much fun photographing my quilt projects!
This is my Modern 9 Patch pattern. Right now all of my digital quilt patterns are on sale, you’ll get 50% off automatically when you place an order.
Mickey in bed
We have been sleeping upstairs whenever we are here working on the house but I didn’t realize how much hotter the upstairs would be. I’m just not handling any kind of heat well this year so last night I pulled a mattress downstairs and slept in our soon to be master bedroom.
Guess who joined me! Mickey was so excited when I started putting quilts down….poor dog doesn’t know where we live for sure.
The Log Cabin quilt and Irish Chain quilt are some of my oldest quilts. Would you believe that the Log Cabin quilt is the first and only quilt I have hand-quilted.
Did you notice the green quilt? That is the Jolly Bar Jazz quilt from Fat Quarter Shop. Click on the link below to read about it and get the free pattern. It is a beautiful quilt and easy to make.
Today is an exciting day!
Today our plumber will install both toilets downstairs, hook up both vanities and the shower! We won’t have to go up and down those steep stairs anymore.
Our tile guy will come back and buff our tile shower, I think we’ll be able to use it tonight!
The glass company came the other day and measured for our glass shower door. It will be custom made and take several weeks so in the mean time we’ll put up a temporary rod and curtain.
We haven’t found a vanity we like for our master bathroom so we’ll stick the old one that was here in for now. Thank goodness we held on to it!
My new quilt room
Right now my new quilt room looks more like a storage area! I can’t even get in the mood to quilt until I can get this mess organized.
I couldn’t bring anything else up while the work was being done on the walls and floors. I still have tons of stuff to bring up…..I can’t believe I have this much stuff! Actually I can, I love my quilt fabrics and supplies!
It will take some time but I’ll make this a workable quilt space for now.
The weather has been miserable with high humidity and temperatures. I am so ready for winter! Mickey and I went for a walk last night and I didn’t think it was that long but when we came home he started having trouble standing on the tile and we think it was from the heat.
I wrapped him in a wet towel and pretty soon he was okay. I know that he doesn’t care to be outside very much but he loves going for walks, I will have to be more careful with him.
