It is a rainy, gloomy day here in Iowa but that is much better than a snow storm! Anyway, I think I’ll spend the day in my quilt studio organizing and rearranging things like my fabric and AccuQuilt dies. I’m sure I’ll probably find a few UFOs that I forgot I had and maybe some fabric!
Quilt Studio Organizing, Rearranging
& AccuQuilt Dies
I am always rearranging things in my quilt studio and recently I took the doors off of the small wall cabinet in the photo. I had plans to paint it white but now that we are planning on moving I think I’ll skip that. I am not a fan of doors on storage space, I tend to forget what is behind door #1, door #2….you get the picture. Are you that way?
Some time ago I received the AccuQuilt 6″ x 12″ die storage from AccuQuilt. It is very sturdy and coordinates with the Qube and Companion sets.
I went through my dies and picked 8 of my 6″ x 12″ dies to place in my new die storage container. This is the AccuQuilt Spool die that is 6″ x 12″. I ended up picking 8 applique dies to place in the storage container.
There is space below each die so you could write information about the die, that can also be included on the front of the die storage container.
Since I have plenty of storage on my shelves, I will probably leave mine blank as I will only use the die storage container when I am going somewhere else and want to share my dies with other quilters.
I am very, very lucky to have a large 500 square foot quilt studio with several bookcases for storage including one that is filled with all of my AccuQuilt dies.
Wondering what is in all of the IKEA Algot storage system wire bins??
Most of them are filled with Island Batik fabrics, the rest are projects that I am working on at the moment. I have my electric die cutter setup all of the time and a large ironing area. If we had an Ikea store close, my whole quilt studio would be full of their great storage and organizing pieces!
I really like AccuQuilts little quote inside: “Fall in love with quilting…….all over again.
How do you store your AccuQuilt dies? I would love to know how others store their dies, remember you never want to stack them on top of each other – keep them upright. I also stack the cutting mats along side the dies that they work with. Everything is nice and organized. I think my shelf is starting to bow under all of the AccuQuilt GO! weight!
This is a view of the other side of my quilt studio, time to get organizing!
Yesterday I posted a tutorial for the Affinity quilt block, can you see the block in this photo? It was still up on my small design wall as a UFO.
This is an area that needs some rearranging and organization! That box is an old Simplicity sewing machine that belonged to my mom. I need to get it out, see how it works and give it to my sister. Notice all my old irons on the top of the cabinet?
One more little goodie I have is the AccuQuilt Studio Cutter. I plan on doing some tutorials using this soon, the cabinet it is sitting on is a bathroom cabinet! (I have one more that I can use in the future)
I have mentioned that we are hoping to move in 2019 and we have been looking and looking at houses. I need a quilt studio, Builder Bob needs a man cave, who cares about the rest of the house!
I hope you have enjoyed this post about Quilt Studio Organizing, Rearranging and AccuQuilt Dies. Would you like to see more posts about quilt studio organization? I have quite a few tutorials using the AccuQuilt dies and plan to get them more organized in 2019.
This is my last post for 2018, I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year!
